fellas i need help..
i spoke about this b4 i ran my car at 120mph about 3 months ago and it cut out and slowed down by it self . my check engine light came on along with the vsa.. then my car did not go past 3500 rpms it would stay stuck.. now some one told me its cause i didnt run octane wich i didnt that day... so i been running octane ever since.. i ran 120 again yesterday and the same thing. why is my tl cutting out at 120? is it cause i have 20s and a system in my car?

not to sure why you're driving at those speeds (i mean we do but we all slap each other on the wrist right? it's a good buddy/check system)
watts on system? any other mods? (specifically crank pulley?)

The speedometer is calibrated based on the overall tire diameter on the vehicle from the factory. If you put larger rims and tires on and the overall diameter is larger than stock your speedo will read as if you are driving slower than you really are. I know some the auto guys were talking about having their cars limited to 135 in another thread so if you have an auto and larger rims their could be a 15mph discrepancy in the speedo reading when you are hitting that limiter.
Don't know what to tell you about the 3500 rpm CEL thing though.

I think maybe you should take a look at this and maybe you'll think twice about those speeds.

holy shit, those pics are horrible.
See there is a reason when I see speedster flying in my rear view mirror I let them pass. A few seconds of exhiliration is not worth my life or anyone else..damn...
To the OP, AT? MT? TL-S? I'm assuming you have AT TL-S, it would make sense with rev stopping you at 3500 rpm...stupid limiter.

normally when the engine gets codes like CAT overheat from extreme speeds - or it thinks there was a rpm in excess of redline- the computer goes into safe/limp mode and wont go above a limited rpm to protect the engine from further damamge
Have the codes pulled and report back- if you got warning lights there are going to be codes stored

If the VSA light came on and you were limited to 3500 RPM's, the car has gone into limp mode. This usually occurs when the car thinks you are doing going to do damage to the motor and wants to prevent you from doing so. I would think that if you were doing 120 and listening to your sound system, the draw on the motor would be pretty high. I would have the code checked and report back.

go to http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCal...?action=submit
Do the math, it will be less than 5mph difference if you rollin on 30 series.
