Factory Rotors/pads or After market???

I need to change the Front Rotors and Pads on my 06 TL Automatic. I've heard mixed things on staying with factory parts vs after market. Obviously factory parts are much more expensive, but are they worth it vs going down to the local Auto parts store and getting after markets? Let me know ur thoughts please!

I see you've only got 4 posts. I don't want to sound like a jerk but we get one of these threads every few days. Try a search and you will find an entire day's worth of reading on options for the 5at.

To help you out a little, I would go aftermarket whether it's stock sized or a big brake kit. The reason being is the Acura rotors ahave a tendency to warp very easily and their OEM pads are good but overpriced.

Stock sized brakes will be fine for nearly any street situation. However, they will overheat if pushed hard through the mountains or at the track.

For a great slightly better than OEM pad, the Duralast C-max Gold pads are great and cost only $60.

I ended up going with a 13" Rotora aftermarket kit since I tend to push the car and track it from time to time. IMO, a 13" kit should be the starting point for tracking one of these cars.

I've searched and read a lot on here but I'm starting to get a headache with all of the suggestions and opinions. lol I'm definitely going with an After Market, now I just need to narrow down what to get. I prefer to get something local as I need to replace them within the next day or two. I have several stores to choose from, Autozone, O'reileys, Summit Racing, and pepboys. I'm starting to lean towards EBC slotted rotors as they have them in stock and they are only 166.95 for both front rotors. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/EBC-USR7087/

Now I just need to decide on pads I guess. Was thinking to pair up the EBC Rotors with EBC pads. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/EB...s/?prefilter=0

But I think I might want ceramic instead of the "greenstuff" pads. and of course they don't have them in stock. Maybe the Duralast Gold?? Any suggestions? Or suggestions on different pads to pair up with the EBC rotors? Thanks!

The Duralast c-max gold pads are the ones I mentioned. They're ceramic and cheap. At least as good of performance as stock and only $60. They're available from autozone.

Did you ever try checking out your forum vendors?

We assembled brake kits with the TL end-user in mind to achieve different goals. Stage 0 is a pads, lines, fluid kit that we feel should be the minimum standard for these cars. And the kits go up from there.

stick with oem for a 06 5at ... those pads are suppose to last a very long time, no sense in upgrading unless u plan to track the car

When it was time to do the brakes on my 05 TL auto i went with POWER SLOT rotors and HAWK HPS PADS. Excellent stopping power and zero noise for about the same price as oem rotors and pads. I highly recommend!

OEM pads are pretty good but you can get better pads for less money. It's the rotors that I would definately upgrade on the 5at.

VQ Power, I totally disagree. There is a lot to dislike about the OEM pads for many people. tracking is not the only reason you'd get pads, and the pads you'd get for track use would be senseless on the street. Likewise, a lot of street upgrade pads would be useless or dangerous on the track. I can respect the OEM-is-best mentality but it simly does not apply here.

I h8 carz, in contrast, I think for a lot of people rotors are about as necessary to get as camber kits. Mostly you get it to be a perfectionist or for looks. True there are some really great upgrade rotors out there, but there is nothing technically wrong with the stock ones.
