Error codes stored in messages

Error codes stored in messages
Hey guys, so today was my first day with my 07 type s.. Since I'm in Washington, I have to take my emissions test before registering it. Woo! There isn't any check engine light on, but there is one message that keeps popping up about my gas cap not being tight enough and it doesn't go away even when I tighten it.. I remember failing a test for a gas cap before, so should I go ahead and replace this cap before my test?
Also, there are several codes saved in the messages portion of my Nav, a few of them are tire pressure related but some other ones too. Are these old? There is no check engine light, so am I safe to assume it will pass emissions? Not sure if those codes stay in my messages even if the problem is fixed or not, but I assume if their were 02 sensors out or something of that nature the check engine would've been on or the very least, the message would appear similar to the gas cap one popping up?
Learning about the car as I go, I appreciate the help and patience guys!

You also need to scan the codes with the scanning tool in order to determine if there are any codes stored in the system. The ones that you see on your NAV screen are stored in XM module and you cannot erase them with OBD II scanner unless you have a very expensive one. However if you scan the codes with the scanner and there aren't any than you are good to go. To erase the message codes from your navi you can follow this instruction that I found in other thread:
"You can easily delete the messages..
You'll need to evoke the diagnostic screen first, get in your car, turn the nav on, and hold down the "GUIDE", "MENU", and "CANCEL" buttons for about 5 seconds. The factory calibration screen will come up.
Then click on XM module, and you'll see the option to erase those messages. Believe it or not the diagnostic messages are stored in XM module.. dumb."
The dealership can also clear them for you for free.
