Driver's Side Seatbelt Rattle Buzz

I picked up my 2005 Anthracite/Quartz/Navi TL last week and I have put about 500 miles on it since then. First, let me say how much I love the car so far. Favorite feature so far has to be the Voice Command controls and car responses. My wife commented that she thought it was like riding in the Enterprise.

Anyway, I have an annoying rattle/buzz coming from the height adjuster for the driver's side seatbelt. I have put it at its highest and lowest points to no avail. I have also pressed on just about every part around it but it sounds like it is coming from the inside of the mechanism. Please tell me there's a fix for this. It is right next to my left ear and is quite annoying.

I had the same problem, but....

It's strange...under 1000 miles, I had the same issue. It's a faint metal on metal clicking sound. I'm now at 2000 miles and the sound is gone without me doing anything (I may have moved it to the lowest height). Other than that, the car is very solid and rattle-free.

hmmm...I am also experiencing the same problem. I have an 05/6SP/Anthracite/Quarts with 1000 miles that is only 3 weeks old. I didn't notice any rattles until around 750 miles. I tried moving it to it's lowest setting. It doesn't seem to be as bad, but still there? (knock on wood)

I've also noticed that it was worse in the morning with the cold temps.

Yes, it does seem to be worse in cold temps. FYI, I had one other rattle in the shiftgate area, but pulled up the trim ring and applied thin strips of the "loop side" of some velcro I had in the garage to the underside of the trim ring. No more rattle there.

I've noticed it when I go over bumps, but it isn't anything bad enough to warrant letting the dealer mess with it yet.

I had the passenger side rattle for a while. It was always after my wife rode in the car. Here is what I found…

My wife was not making sure the seat belt retracted to the “rest” position. The mettle clasp was just hanging against the door frame. My wife also slams the sh_t out of the doors (She is no where near as neurotic about the TL as I am). Sometime slamming the door causing the mettle clasp to spring up… At low RPM highway speed I would hear the rattle. With the mettle clasp of the seat belt flush against the door frame no rattle.

The seat belt rattle is only one of the annoying rattles around the area. Do any of you also have a headrest rattle? Both of my headrests are one notch up for maximum protection in case of a rear-end accident. The passenger seat's metal cylinder rattles against the clasp which holds it in position. This only happens when there's no one sitting in the seat.

I have almost 4000 miles on the car and the seat belt rattle has been there since the beginning. Does anyone have a fix for it? I've had my car in around 5 times for them to fix it and each time they claim they put more felt in it. I'll drive the car away and it will be fine for about a day and then I'll hit one bump in the road and the rattle will be back louder and constant. FYI, I live in chicago so the condition of the streets are terrible in the winter... one pot hole after another.

I'm also wondering if anyone knows how to take the seat belt covering off? I feel that once I can see the guts of the B pillar I could properly pad the area of the rattle.
Thanks!

hope noone gets mad that im a tsx owner posting in the tl boards today, but i just posted on another thread for the steering wheel rattle. i have this EXACT same rattle as well in my seat belt assembly. if you hold it (the adjustable area) the nosie goes away. you can also somewhat reproduce the noise by tapping on the cover. moving it to the high or low position doesnt really seem to work for me, and yes it is defineatly more pronounced in the cold morning. help

i know this is an old thread but was anyone able to fix this? i just started getting this rattle and the only way to make the noise go away is to hold the adjustable area like MoFocker mentioned.

Unhappy

Had my seatbelt height adjusters replaced by the dealer two weeks ago because they were rattling (they have been rattling since I got the car). Guess what... the brand new ones rattle.

The sound left after time??? That could mean that a bolt was loose and It has finally fallen out. Get it checked out.

I picked up my 05 TL last Monday and have the same annoying buzz. It was there as soon as I left the lot. The saleman claimed he did not hear it when went to fill the tank prior to delivery. The tech who went for a ride with me noticed it right away. I have an appointment to drop it off on 5/11 so that they can pull the B pillar trim and try to isolate and hopefully fix the problem. It appears to be coming from the plate that the seat belt roller assembly is attached to. When I push on this plate the buzzing completely stops.

I too have the driver's seatbelt rattle, its very annoying as it only happens in the morning. If it still happens after summer (which i doubt), I'll take it in for the added "felt".

Woo people, I just got a TL a week ago and now I have a slight driver seat belt buzz (not so annoying) and the shiftgate rattle (drives me insane).

Do you have any step by step instructions on doing the velcro thing?

I've had my TL for a couple of months now, 1700 miles, and I've had the same driver's seat belt rattle/buzz noted by all of you here. Recently when I turned off the stereo I noted noise coming from the passenger B pillar as well as the glove box. I have an appointment to have this all checked in a couple of weeks. I hope this is not indicative of the overall quality of the interior of the car. It's such an awesome looking vehicle, I'd hate to have that marred by poor build quality.

Just got my car back from the dealer. The B pillar vibration was caused by loose bolts on a trim support bracket. The tech also found a loose bolt on a bracket in the drivers side rear door. The cabin is now completely silent. I also mentioned that several other members of this board reported a similar problem and he is reporting this problem to Acura.
