The dreaded misfire codes

Ok I have about 117K on my 04 TL.
I started hearing clattering from my engine.
It wasnt loud at first but then it got louder
over time. Then I noticed I was leaking oil.
So I took it in to Acura Service to get it looked
at. So they quoted me $2400 for the following:
Valve Ajustment
New Spark Plugs (mine had less than 15K on them)
Then
Manifold Gasket replaced
Oil Pump replaced
New Timing belt (mine had less than 5K on it)
New Tensioner
I did all this work & it cost me $2400.....
But the guy at Acura told me I needed a
whole new bottom part of the engine which
was going to cost me over 5-6000. I said
forget that.

Ok so it doesnt clatter like it used to. It does a little
but its really not too noticable. The oil leak was fixed.
But now I still have misfire codes going off & my check
engine light is back on again. Also I noticed that the
little oil light flickers on/off sometimes when im at idle.
I took my car back less than 10 minutes after picking it
up because it was causing my check engine light to come
on still. The guy told me that since I didnt replace the bottom
part of my engine that is why it still misfires...?
He told me the Vavle adjustment & new Spark Plugs would
fix the misfires. Guess I got screwed on that one.

My question is what can I do (myself) to chk into why
car is still misfiring. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry to say this because I'm not trying to be a jackass but you are a fool for spending that money on what you listed there. The only things listed there that are anything close to possible causes would be the valve adjustment and spark plugs. And the only reason I say plugs is because they sounded to be pretty new and it's just a good thing to get the car back to the last known "good" configuration. But I can only imagine there justification for the oil pump/timing belt/tensioner etc. cuz I can see almost no reason to those needing replacing from the info you provided.

My first question would be where was the oil leaking from and how bad was the leak?

Next, if you're oil light is coming on, was the sensor on the block and wiring for it ever checked/tested? That would have a much better chance of failing compared to the actual oil pump.

First thing first, get your car the hell outta that stealership!

Man honestly I feel like I a jackass for letting them. So no worries!
I had just put a new Timing belt & Water pump on myself. This was
while my car was clattering. But it made no diff. Either way they
both needed to get replaced.

As far as having a reason to change oil pump/timing belt/tensioner
is this.... and I quote "your oil pump was cracked & oil leaked all
over your timing belt..." lol give me a break bro!!!! "Tensioner same
thing got oil all over it & that is why they have to replace it." LOL
again. Sounds like some BS to me but what do I know?

The oil leak would leave a little oil everywhere I stopped. Not much
but it did leak. Also it was leaking from the bottom.
As far as the sensor being tested I really really doubt it...

Worst of all I dont ever want to get a another
Acura if im always getting this kinda of service.

I dont know like I said Im trying to look into what could
be causing my car to misfire. Im thinking coilpacks because
Acura never said they tested them. But I dont want to go
buy 6 coil packs & then it still misfires.

Is the only indication of a misfire the CEL? Meaning can you actually feel the car misfire? Are you on the same tank of gas as when the misfire started? Could be something really small or stupid like that causing a misfire. I'm really just trying to start easy and work from there; you know, the way Acura doesn't diagnose problems. Replacing the coils would definitely suck and I'd try to find a buddy's TL and try his first before going out and buying new ones.

I can't say either way if your oil pump is capable of doing that but I still find that pretty hard to believe. I ALWAYS tell a dealer to physically show me everything before going about any repair. Always remember tech's make commission just the same as salesmen do.

Yeah I asked about the parts afterwards & he said they already
thru away all my old parts. But I understand what you are saying.
I think I will start with my coil packs & go from there. Because
like you said its more than likely a small electric part or something.

Only Indication I know that my car is misfiring is because of the CEL.
Other than that I cant tell. Gas seems to stay the same.

What delership is this, nobody should every take their car there. There's no reason that anybody should ever need a new bottom end under 200K miles. and that will never fix a misfire code unless you have a cylinder with a broken ring and leaking oil so bad into the cylinder to are fogging for mosquitoes on the highway. Ok so I'm kinda new to the 3.2 engine when I bought mine the sales rep assured me it had a timing chain, is that not the case?

nope, the J series motors that honda uses as it's V6's do not have timing chains but timing belts.
