How to remove door panel with door stuck shut

Hello all. Just now joined the site firstly trying to seek some advice for my 04 tl. The front passenger side actuator has gone bad I believe. The passenger door is locked shut and I can't get it open regardless of what I do. When you hit the lock/unlock button it barely moves up and down but will not unlock. I'm trying to figure out how to get the panel off so I can try and avoid dealer costs. I've checked the forums but not really any info with the door being shut. Any advice or suggestions? Thanks guys

I work at a dealership, not acura though, and when we have similar cases like this,
we stick the key in the cylinder (on the outside) and just keep turning it while pulling the door... eventually you'll start to feel it
get hard to turn and you can feel it get a little harder, that's when its close to opening.

There isn't a keyhole in the passenger side on the tl. You think they would have made one on them for instances like this

can you manually pull it up fromt he inside? If so you can try the same method just pulling up the pin instead of with a key

Nah it won't come up that way either. Which is why I'm confused on it because I know that actuator and cable can't be that strong to where you cant pull it up

If your Door locks are not working correctly and the Door lock jams stay locked. Try this..

pull the door handle from the outside of one of the front Doors. - This for some reason acts as a reset. Then attempt to use your power door locks to unlock it from the buttons inside or your keypad.
This should unlock your doors.

Let me know if this works. for you.

the reason this might have happened.
- Lock doors
- If you attempt to pull the handle from inside the CAR.
- Try to unlock the door, It will not unlock, just keeps attempting to open, close, open..etc.
- Open your window Try to pull the Door handle from outside
- Attempt to unlock your doors, should work.

if this is pretty consistent, there needs to be some adjustment on the door locks.

Haha sorry guys. Well I took the car to the local acura dealership expecting to throw about 200 dollars down the tube. I had already bought an actuator since I was gonna try and fix it myself. I took it there and an hour later got a call saying they had fixed it. They used a slim Jim to get it unlocked. They took the door panel off and said at some point someone had tried breaking in because it was full of broken glass which was keeping the cable and door knob from functioning. Kind of crazy. 50$ for a fix and a nice car wash was well worth it though!

Did the dealer say how they were able to unlock with the Slim Jim?
