Do I need a new oil pan? help :/
So my goal this weekend was to change my transmission fluid and oil. The transmission fluid was changed successfully thanks to some write ups on this site, but I ran into some trouble with the oil. I read online that the drain plug size for my car (2007 Acura TL Type-S) was a 17mm so thats what I grabbed but when I looked at the oil pan I saw this weird contraption (see pictures). Its like a smaller 10 mm bolt threaded inside a much larger nut with a plastic washer and some type of sealant around it. I thought maybe the larger nut was sealed to the oil pan somehow and only the bolt would come out allowing me to change the oil, but when I put a ratchet to it both the nut and bolt moved at the same time. Also when I did that some of the sealant substance came off exposing the color of the washer. I'm scared to remove this and not be able to seal this properly so can anyone help? Do I need a new oil pan? Should I just attempt to change the oil and see what happens? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Right! I'm pretty OCD about this kind of stuff so I know I will fix this eventually, but for now I just want my own fluids in the car. I just don't want it to start leaking and then I have to tow it to a shop :/

It looks like maybe he did something like this:

Jiffy Lube stripped the oil pan threads on my old Camaro and I managed to fix it by using a drain bolt repair kit from Time-Sert. It worked pretty good. Good luck to ya.

Yeah, I agree with the others, someone FUBARed an oil change and then FUBARed the repair. Your two options are replace the oil pan or buy an oil extractor.
FWIW, I bought a Pela 650 back in the late 1990s and haven't pulled an oil pan plug since something like 1998.

^pretty sure a j-pipe won’t violate any emissions! You aren’t removing any catalytic converters, and even if you remove the third cat, I believe you’ll have no problems. I’m sure there are threads taking about this on Azine!
Sucks that someone F’d up the drain plug! Geez.....

Just an update for everyone, I successfully changed my oil. I had a wrench on the bigger nut and took ratchet to the smaller bolt and the oil drained out of that small hole. It actually looks like there weren't any modifications to the oil pan at all. The threads didn't look stripped, in fact looks like a stock drain plug might actually still fit. So maybe previous owner did this for convenience? I'm not too sure but I'm going to keep it on there for now and next oil change will try an oem bolt and washer.

I know that I can pass emissions with a j-pipe deleting the 3rd cat, but I would fail a visual if they checked underneath the car. So I'm still doing some research deciding on whether I want to do it or not. Its tough because it looks like the j pipe gives some great gains! Not sure I'd want to deal with taking it on and off for smog though.

I actually pass with my RV6 J pipe in CA. It's all one piece so it does not look like anything is missing. But my car is also very low so they did not bother jacking the car up to look underneath either.

I'm most likely moving to Nevada at the end of the school year and I'm assuming laws are less strict there. So maybe I'll get a j-pipe and catback then. For now I'll most likely go AEM v2 CAI and "Stage 3" exhaust. (Why do they call it stage 3? lol seems stupid)

cuz it's made up.
when being the first to do something, and there are multiple ways of doing it...the easiest naming convention is consecutive order. 1,2,3...A,B,C.
it could be named level C and still mean the same.

plus, people like to be TOLD what to do. makes it simple.
Do this. Do this, and Do this to get this sound.
you gotta remember this was 10 years ago! when no one knew what did what

When is your next smog check? Just do it after it if it's coming up or if it's not going to be for a while, screw it and do it now. Nevada doesn't have emissions if i'm not mistaken.
