Dashboard faded and cloudy. What can I do?

I purchased a used 2008 TL a few months ago with about 12,000 miles on it. The dashboard had some fading to it, but it didn't seem like a big deal. Things have gotten worse since then...

Most of the dash is now faded and cloudy. I've tried cleaning it and applying products like ArmorAll. (I'm actually not a fan of ArmorAll-type products.) Nothing seems to really work.

Has anyone else had this problem? Do I stand any chance getting it covered under warranty? Or any products someone might suggest trying?

Thanks in advance.

An easy and fast way to take care of your dash is to clean the surface really well, with either water or water/woolite mix. Dry. Then apply 303 to MF cloth and wipe onto dash. You may need two coats for the first time. Do not get 303 on your gauges including clock. Here's a good thread:

Yes, I have the problem in my 05 TL. I've been ignoring it for years, but took it to the dealer yesterday and the service manager insisted it was from using 409 on the dash (which I rarely do). I have now read many posts here and on Edmunds.com about this problem, and am convinced it's a factory defect. Several people report that the dealer replaced their dash.

Hope your not using Armorall. This stuff is crap and will actually dry out your dash. 303 is the best I've found for protecting the dash and it's not clossy.

I have a similar issue.. but mine seems to be where the airbag is on the dash.. u can see the out line of the air bag compartment clearly.... dealer said it was due to the car sitting in the sun too much... i think that is BS cause the car is kept in the garge all the time..

I've had the same problem and bought the 303 Aerospace protectant as mentioned. It worked great! My dash now looks new.

I have the same problem with my dash on my 05. could be due to heavy sun exposure, its a common problem with the TL, especially if you live in a state where the weather is always hot. best thing to do is keep using a protectant on the dash to prevent further fading.

I picked up 303 Aerospace at a marina/hardware store. $14.99 per 16oz bottle. Best $15 I've ever spent on an interior detailing product.
