Completely shredded a few interior panels
So I bought a 50" plasma today for my bedroom which is good. But, the stand attached to the bottom shredded up my door panel and the back of that folder thing on my seat. How hard are these to replace? I think I may have found the parts on acuraoemparts but each panel is like $200.
Would a custom interior place be able to repair / replace these for cheaper? I'll try to get some pics up when it's lighter tomorrow. Thanks in advance!

Haha awesome, well good I dont feel quite as bad about it! I would have actually been more pissed if the leather seat got ripped. I also put a dent in the door sill but I don't care about that really. This is my daily driver not a show car so I know it's gonna get beat up, but these gashes are awful and as a car guy are not something I can live with.
I'll let you know what the shop says so that you can get a feel for what options there are and how much they cost

I bought cargo blankets from amazon. I keep them folded in my trunk and they have come in handy when I make spontaneous trip to the hardware store or taking packages from work to ups. I have 3. I lay one across the seat and the other two are to wrap up what ever it is I need to transport.

As for the tear in your door panel the upholstery shop will probably just mend the area and color match with an air brush. If it was on a perforated area they could fix it but the holes won't be there. I had to go through this with my rear seat when I bought it, the leather had cracks and a 1 inch tear. Called around and those were the answers I received, but in the end the dealer replaced it for free.

I know for a fact if you order the door panels through Acura (the interior door panel and the seat back panel with the elastic pocket holder thing) they are right around $200 each from Delray Acura. Which I feel like is a lot.

A caution
Just a caution. This past summer I got a triangular gash in the passenger seatback, about an inch long. As I always do, I went to Problems and Fixes to get advice from the faithful about what to do. There are one or more threads there about seatback replacement. After I read them I lost most of my enthusiasm for replacement. The consensus was that the seatback has known design flaws that make it difficult to keep it attached to the seat once it is loosened, and the same for a replacement. I can't quote him exactly, but one poster said, more or less, "If your seatback is firmly attached, for God's sake don't disturb it."
I decided to try Dr. Vinyl, but I haven't done it yet. Replacing a rear door panel should be fairly simple. I'd try salvage websites before paying for a new one.

Well, I now have what used to be an eraser-sized tear in the psgr door pocket, as a 1.5" gash due to someone getting in my car and the boomerang door got him/her. He/she was just trying to get their foot in before ending up with a bruised ankle. :-) I'm headed to a metro Atlanta upholsterer so if any of you have any interest in the results, lmk. I'm picky about my car so I can't stand looking at the gash.

I've meant to update this thread. The Honda dealer that I get my service done at is supposed to have a guy that comes in on Wednesdays who can fix dents and interior damage. I brought my car in on a Wed but he wasn't there last time, and I've been too busy with work to take it to an independent shop I'll get around to it I promise, will definitely post up the results here so you guys can get an idea of how much it costs to fix.

Just got back from the upholstery repair shop with an estimate. The guy told me that it is impossible to make it look 100% because of the way that the material is vacuum wrapped around the foam on the door panel and back of the seat card. He had his interior specialist there working on a Volvo SUV and he confirmed it. He said he could make the door panel look about 90% and the seat card about 80%, but you will always notice something there. Which I figured would be the case unless I replaced it. He said I might get lucky at a junkyard somewhere on the door panel but a junkyard wouldn't sell me just that part that's damaged, they would have to sell me the entire seat. They didn't tell me exactly how it would be repaired, but I assumed he would use some kind of foam filler and airbrushing combination.
He quoted me $225 and it would take pretty much all day, so morning to late afternoon. Hopefully that gives you guys an idea of roughly what it would cost to get it fixed to about 80ish%.

I don't know. Probably not until later in the year if I do. I owe the IRS a LOT of money this tax season so I'm going to be recovering from that for a while. I've got a gnarly scrape on the rear bumper too, so I'll probably just wait to get it all done at the same time.

This thread makes me sad... I think we all have some type of deformity thanks to the supper sensitive molded vinyls. My daughter has put countless divets & scratches in my driverside backplate.

Yeah I still don't have this fixed. Since I don't look at it every day it hasn't been high on my priority list. My TL-S has almost 90,000 miles on it already, so it's obviously a well-used daily driver...I've kind of gotten past the point of caring about little dings and rips here and there :P
Don't get me wrong, I keep my car clean and in good mechanical shape...but when you drive as much as I do and your car is basically a mobile office, stuff is going to get worn out. I would have an aneurism if I stressed out about every little flaw that's happened to it.

Fast forward a month to today. Grabbed a 5qt of Mobil 1 from Wal-mart. Put it in the trunk on the cargo blanket for the ride home so it doesn't slide around. Get home. Oil container was leaking. Friggin thing spilled about a half quart of oil ON THE BLANKET, and not on my trunk carpet.
Thanks dude

Dealers have "detail" guys that come around on a scheduled basis to fix up dings, scratches, rips, etc. that occur in new car transport and to get used cars looking good for the lot. You might want to talk to your dealer to see if you can get a name and/or number for the guys they use. If you let the dealer do the repair, they will have the same guy do it, but mark it up for making the appointment for you! Good Luck!
