Chirping/rattling when revved around 3,000 rpm
I have an 05 6MT with 57K on it. Today I had my windows down and noticed a chirping or rattling noise coming from the engine. When I got home and parked it in the garage, I revved it up and you can hear it at about 3,000 rpm. I'm thinking it may be a belt but fearing it may be something worse than that. Can anyone help??

I don't think it's the same noise as yours. I can hear it while driving but I have to be driving by a building or something to actually hear it. But I know it's a sound you don't want to hear.

Sounds like a heat shield. They loosen up and then make noise at a certain frequency of vibration. Same principle as a National steel guitar. Should be an easy fix.
Here's the diagram:

Each of those "baffles" is a suspect.

Is there a heat shield for the brakes? I noticed when I kick my passenger tire it makes the same sound. Like there is a loose piece of metal or something. I could feel a thin piece of metal on the back side of the rotor that seemed to be loose. Haven't taken the wheel off yet to check.

i can bet you guys have a COLD AIR INTAKE !!!!
and when you rev it up, from the engine rock there is this chirping or rattling....I get it too, but the reason I havent tightened that bolt on the CAI is because I dont want to tear it up when I step on it !!!!
