"Check Gas Cap" message with idle hesitation

Hi everyone,

My 05 TL just popped the "Check Gas Cap" warning on the MID and I've been doing some research.

Most if not all the posts I've read didn't mention any sort of drivability issue and the light is usually intermittent. However my light had been on for over a week now and it had never turned off, and just today I'm getting a hesitation when the car is stopped at idle. The RPM will quickly drop to about 500rpm and bounce back up to about 900rpm as the car shack a tad as the engine catches itself back to a normal idle rpm.
This happens almost at all the instances where I come to a full stop and idle (say at a traffic light).

Would the PCV valve issue cause the hesitation or am I looking at another issue here?

Thanks for any insight you guys might have.

Get the code(s) read at the local AutoZone then post back to narrow down the possible problem area.

More than likely this is a purge solenoid issue with your evaporative system. I know there is a TSB about this "false alarm" issue, as the cap is usually ok. The ECU believes it is a leak at the cap, but the purge solenoid is not activating upon command causing the trouble light on the MID. Mine is actually having this same issue and it is starting to happen pretty frequently...

Anyone have/know the tsb# on this? I'm getting tired of the gas cap message randomly showing up.
