Center Console Ticking (arm rest area)

I have a ticking sound that appears to be coming from the rear section of my center console. It sounds like it is coming from the arm rest area. It happens over moderately rough roads. It seems like applying pressure to the arm rest reduces or eliminates it. Does anyone else have this rattle and know how to fix it? It's annoying!

Thank you!

any chance you taken it off or removed? if so, removed it again and reinstall it.

It's never been removed.

If you can isolate where the rattle comes from (ie where parts are rubbing) you can try to apply weatherstripping in the area. I buy from Orchard Supply and keep in on hand for any known rattles that I have access to.

Omg i have the same issue. After i take off from a complete stop, there's a loud click or ticking sound, and happens over rough roads too. Not sure what's causeing it, but its definately from the center armrest area.

If anyone has any insight, please share, driving me crazy for about 3 months now.

Open the vent at the back of the armrest so the rear air can flow thru- restriction can make noises
Any chance the lumbar support lever hits something when its in a forward position?

Tried that.... I've noticed that if i pull on the center armrest to the left or right sound goes away. It probably has to do with some bolts holding it down. This i noticed tonight.

i have noticed that my arm rest makes noise too, only over moderate bumps...i think its the nature of the arm rest as its made to slide back and fourth....i might try to weather strip the area that it slides back and fourth on, but right now its not a big deal...i just want my headliner

try to tighten all the screws under the armrest and also the 2 screws that secure the actual arm rest/console to the car. those 2 screws are under the little rubber mat

Hmm... I've loosened the two screws in the large compartment underneath the rubber mat. Sound went away for about 3 days, now it's back, so it'd definately somewhere around there. Still not sure what's causing it... but I am tampering in the right spot.

I am getting the tick noise too. It appears to come from center arm console and is more prominent while driving in garage.

Do you keep the arm rest extened? Mine rattles when extended when I don't have my elbow resting on it, but as soon as I put my arm down it is quiet again. If I don't extend the arm rest it doesn't make any noise.

look at the top tray in the armrest. See if the rubber pads are still there, if not it could be the cause of the rattle.

I've removed the screws under the rubber mat, used wool felt underneat the screw and underneath the plastic, between plastic and metal. Still no use, ticking is still there, happens though only when i take off from a stopped position. I still have no leads on this. Also, it happens even with the top tray open, so it's definately not the tray. Sounds like its comming from somwhere above the air vents in the back.

Check the little console compartment for the rear-seat passengers (below the air vents) as well as seat belt buckle mounting points.

The little tray console is not it either, sound comes with tray out or in, doesn't matter. The seat-belt is something i haven't checked. I have noticed that if i leave both the screws underneath the rubber cover out of their sockets, the sound goes away completely, but who knows. AT this point i'm willing to tamper with the seat belt mounts also, that I have not done yet.

Screws

HAppened to me but my armrest came off completely off... I believe the noise is/are the screws popping out slowly rather than unscrewing themselves ... Might be b/c repeatedly pushing down on it with our arm or too much bass in your car.... Fwiw....

Mr3lite,
Somehow I have lost several of those screws that attach the armrest pad to the plastic piece it's supposed to be screwed down to. You don't happen to know what the part# is for those screws do you?

Shot Clock Buzzer sound in middle console

I've recently hit 30K on my 2009 MDX and I've recently began hearing the same sound. Has anyone found out exactly what this sound is? I don't believe that it is possible for the sound i'm hearing to be screws. I'm worried that it is something below the console...hopefully NOT the transmission.
