Car Wouldn't Start This Morning
2007 TL Type-S, ~75,000 miles. Good Maint. Mods here: https://acurazine.com/forums/garage/...Bearcat94.html
Went to start the car this morning and it made 'squeak' from the engine area (I thought it was the belt) and would not start. I have had some minor, (more-or-less) normal belt squeak from the drive belt in colder weather .... that has been on and off for ~4 or 5 years since adding the lightweight pulley, so I don't think what I heard was quite the same as that. This was a sharper, abrupt squeak when the engine first started to turnover .... after than, it was just the starter cranking.
Battery seems OK .... plenty of power. Starter is working/cranking.
Acts like it wants to start, but isn't getting gas .... seems like the engine is not turning over. After ~3 tries, there was an acrid, kind-of metallic burning smell. I'm guessing this something from the starter getting hot.
Car was started and ran yesterday breifly with no issues. It was a bit cold this morning, but not unusually so.
Have not really looked closely at it yet. Any ideas/suggestions as to what to look for?

Ok, the engine IS turning via the starter and belts look OK. But it seems like it's not getting fuel to catch.
Fuel pump??
Other ideas?

What are your '5 culprits'?
BTW, if it's spark, it has to be something that effects all 6 coils. I'm leaning toward fuel.

Here I come!
Well, like you said..... if it's spark, it would have to be something affecting all 6 and your plugs might be wet from the cranking and no spark. If it's fuel, I would check for a clogged fuel filter first before messing with the fuel pump. Also, you should check your timing belt...

Hey Bear, if you're sure that the electrical stuff is good, then perhaps the fuel pump's relay is bad ?
Is your battery the original ? Can ya hear the fuel pump when ya turn the key on ?

I'm on my third battery. I think this one has been in a year or so .... electrics seem good though.
Not sure if I hear the fuel pump or not. Maybe it'll be something that quick/simple.

Man, your car is eating batterys !
If ya don't have anything really "big" putting an extra drain on them, then ya must have a scavenger leak somewhere.
Next time, buy the most powerful battery with the best warranty, as you'll need it down the road ..... going by the present trend.

Test the voltage of the battery. I had the same problem two nights ago, and I could not even get three other cars to jump start my car. I finally called AAA and they had a battery pack, and came and jumped the car immediately. So I went to Autozone and got the biggest battery jump started I could find. The lowest voltage of the battery should be no more than about 10-11 volts. Anything less, and something is eating away at that power.

Every one has been the stock Acura battery and been replaced free under warranty. If you read the history, it's par for the course; these things last about 2 years.
And, now, I'm on battery #4. Another Acura stock battery .... for free.

Hey Bear, while I'm not really familiar with the 3rd Gen's appetite for eating batterys every two years....it's good to know that Acura is handing them out like candy at Halloween's trick or treat nite. Personally, IMO there's a problem that's not being addressed and low voltage can create havoc within the entire car.
Hopefully, the dealership won't rape ya too bad.....as they probably want to see ya buy a new TLX when they are available. Keep the candy coming in the meantime !!!

Hendrick Acura Service is fantastic as far as I'm concerned.
I'd buy a 'good' new battery, but I keep getting them for free .... it's hard to beat free.

@ bearcat94, I had that same problem and it did turn out to be the fuel pump. If you don't hear a humming or buzzing sound coming from the rear of the car when you turn the ignition to acc, then that might be your problem. Keep us updated though...good luck
