Car Won't start help please 2005 TL
Hello you wonderful people. So I drive around all day great no problem then I park at grocery store. I come out of grocery store car doesn't start. Lights radio all turn on fine. We try to give it a jump but no ignition start. When I put in key I can get light radio, etc but no ignition sound on turn. You advice is greatly appreciated.

do you hear a rapid clicking noise? Also did you recently use the bluetooth system?
|
no bloothoth
no bloothooth and I don't hear anything when I turn key maybe a regular click. My uncle said use remote and open close like 3 times maybe it locked against theft and to reset computer I will try this thanks

It's in Park correct? Last week a fellow couldn't start his Accord as I watched from inside the restaurant, then he tried jumpers, no go. I went outside and even with jumpers, no sound and lights didn't flicker. Either starter, neutral safety switch, or not in Park. Looked inside and he had left it in drive. Threw it into Park and away he went.
If in Park and no sound when jumpers connected, either starter, neutral safety switch, or connections at battery bad. |
what is neutral safety switch I will search but what is that

engine immobilized
one last question is it possible I immobilized the ignition. When I turn key I do see the antitheft red light blink once. If I accidentaly immobilized it where do I find info on how to removilize it. I did not get manual when I bought it. Thanks.

IF it is blinking red, that mean the key is not programmed with the vehicle. You will need to have the key programmed by a locksmith with a special computer. Be sure to bring all the keys that you use with the car as they will need to be reprogrammed too.

Check the starter Check the starter cut relay. Check the transmission range switch (A/T). Check the ignition switch |

if the key wasnt programmed the "Immobilizer System Indicator" a.k.a. the green key next to the oil light would be blinking. if thats the case go and get ur spare key and drive off.

UPDATE it was the starter
Thank You wonderful people for your help. It was the starter. If you ever find yourself in a situation where battery works, but there is just a light click on the turn, it's the starter. Stepdad's Triple A arived on scene and hit starter and I drove it home. I will finally now have to get AAA) I tried to hit starter, but I noticed AAA hit starter a lot harder and pulled belt.
I felt like I had lost a child. GOSH I LOVE MY 3G TL. My baby is back and now runnin on Mobile 1. I will begin more modding this summer but I could never go too far because losing a transmission would probably give me an attack. Even when I get my new Beamer my 3g will always be in action. Cheers to great people on this forum, cheers to the 3G TLS' |
cheers to the 2G TLS tooo..

I need to get this resolved. Im about to get all my other maintenance done so this might as well be done. Anybody know if all 3rd Gen's have the same starter (including the Type S) ?

Another bad starter in my '04?
Hey Guys,
I've been off the forum for a while now...until tonight! I shut it off for about 20 minutes after a long drive and when I turned the key, only the IP lights came on. No crank. No rapid sounds of spark plugs. Battery was solid. Jumping it didn't help. All I heard was a SINGLE LOUD CLICK from around the throttle body. No rapid spark noises like when the old Acura battery was dying an early death. After about 15 tries, it just turned over. But when I got home, it won't start right after I turned it off:annoyed:!!! Tame Ladies and all, does it sound like another failed starter? My '04 was fine up until tonight. There was absolutely NO warning. This is frustrating. I thought my TL was bulletproof. Oh well. Thanks for your help in advance.

Similar problem to Tame Ladies... please help!
Hello people, I have an 05 TL and have been having a problem similar to Tame Ladies. The only difference is that I can bypass the ignition by running a jumper wire directly from my battery to the starter while the key is in the run postion (II) and it will fire right up. This leads me to believe that it would be a problem with the ingnition switch or the nuetral safety switch. Does anyone have any helpful tips that would help me troubleshoot this problem, or possibly a wiring schematic for the ignition or nuetral safety switch? Any help would be much appreciated, Thanks!!!

Yup its your starter I have the same exact problem in my 04 with 99k miles but mine is a fighter, It'll keep turning eventually after 3 tries, most of the time it just starts up fine. Its harder to start it when I'm parked at an incline, one night my friends had to push my car in neutral to a level spot and it started up just fine!
