For some reason I can't use the key to unlock the door. The key slides right into the hole put it wont turn the slightest bit. Any idea why this would be happening? I'm just worried that if my key fob battery dies I won't be able to get into the car

Has it worked previously? Did you try it in the ignition?

I wouldn't be surprised on cars these age that the lock or key was switched out for whatever reason.

I'll hop onto this thread since I have a similar problem... well, Identical. Was fun to get a friend to rush me back to my house, get back with the spare key, only to realize it was fubar....

I have no idea if the lock was switched out. The key works in the glove box and the trunk passthrough. I sprayed some wd40 in the hole but no luck

There is a possibility that the door was changed out.
