Burnt/charred side mirror film

Hey, fellas, hope all is well with my AZine friends.

Anyone else have an issue with their side mirrors featuring said defect? The edges of the driver side mirror are not so much blue and reflective, but more burnt and oxidized.

I'm still under 100k, any chance this would still be covered under warranty?

youre not alone. Both my side mirrors have these burnt brown spots all over. Hopefully it is under warranty:wish:, im under 100k as well. If it is under warranty ill go ahead and get it fix. Gives me the opprotunity not to go 07-08 mirrors

I think it depends on how much is burnt. I tried to get mine under warranty but they dismissed it as being just cosmetic

If they are not under warranty you will have to change the mirror glass. It's doable.

the burnt effect is from having your heated mirror setting turned "ON" for an extended amount of time. be sure to turn the setting off after the heated mirror setting has finished doing its job

no it is not under warranty, i tried already

I had this same problem.

I did what most people did; went out to the dealer and bought new mirror glasses.

It came to around $90 I believe.

If yours are really bad, you can try arguing with them that it's a safety hazard :dunno:

Good luck man.

This. Strange, I must have bumped the switch, I seldom use them.

mine is not as bad but yeah i put 35% tints on mine to hide it and looks fine now....

but in for fixes...

guitarplayer16 08-04-2011 11:45 AM

Another alternative as Inaccurate swears by is placing a multivex mirror over it.

It's really the only fix besides replacing it with a new OEM one.

Can't reverse the chemical change...

Mine are starting to get a little discoloration...something else ive noticed is that even with the switch in the off position...my drivers and passengers side mirrors will randomly start moving on their own. I literally saw my passengers side go full tilt down (as if i had it in reverse and the switch set to the passengers side) and than return to its normal position. I checked my switch and yep...it was in center (off).

They replaced my drivers side mirror 3 days ago for $48

Just drop the damn $48 and get it replaced =p
