maybe you drove over a paper bag...and it burnt onto your exhaust pipe..go look under ur car and see if u see a paper bag or sumthin on the pipe.......if there is, best thing is to let it burn off

Or plastic shopping back trapped on your exhaust system. Check under the car after parking it overnight to make sure there is nothing leaking, too.
Where is the smell coming from? If it is from the engine compartment, someone may have spilled a little oil or fluid on the engine or exhaust during an oil change/fluid addition. In that case, the smell should dissipate within a couple of weeks.
A smell from under the car behind the firewall might be from a bag or debris melted onto the exhaust system, which can last a long time. Best thing is to scrape off (or have your mechanic do it) as much of bag/debris as possible and let rest burn off.

Angry bastards

I think i found out what it is coming from. I took it for major service today and they checked the breaks and rotors. They said the rotors are gone and so are the break pads. It's funny how now they see this after the countless times ive went there recently. When i took it to them before because of the burning smell, they said they couldnt find out where it was coming from. I believe it is from the rotors. They are trying to charge me 1500 dollars for the service and the rotors and breaks. I'm so pissed right now.

No need to get upset. The brake inspection was probably part of the service you brought it in for. Brakes are a consumable...and are part of ownership. They are also very expensive to do right. You can find shops that will do a half-assed job for less, but I would NEVER trust my car...and my life and those of my family...to one of those shops. Have the job done right and don't look back.

I am surprised that one could notice a burning smell but miss that horrible bad loud noise the brakes make when they get low. Besides the built in squeelers, loss of braking etc...

Major service- what are your miles about 60 thousand?

My car had front brake pads at 40 rear rotors and pads at 68 and now at 70k I am putting slotted front rotors from heel and toe on it soon

Acura puts a clear coat on all the engines when they come out of the manufacturer, they do this so when the cars go overseas the salt for the sea or anything else desnt corode the engine. The clear coat comes off at around 30k miles usually the smell starts to come when you are flooring it and it starts to heat up. Most all cars have it
