Question Burning smell

I got an 04 TL with about 80,000 km. I have noticed for a couple days now that when i drive her a little hard i get a funny smell. its as if some sort of plastic or something is burning . not sure if its the exhaust or something under the hood. Has anyone come across this? any suggestions. I have taken one of the resonators out but that was a while ago i thought it could be the straight pipe welding but why now?

This happened to me before. The only thing that would come to mind if it's plastic is if you have a plastic bag stuck onto your exhaust piping some where, since you're lowered on TEIN Coilovers.

Inspect the top part of your main cat heat shield and the shaft in that same area. Do you see an oily residue? If so, you might suspect a leaking power steering hose. Check you PS reservoir to see if it is down.
