Bumper paint chip...any advice from experience?
Hey guys,
Walked out to my car yesterday and found this:

Guess somebody used the bumper method to parallel park. I've searched through several threads about touching-up paint chips, but I would like some advice on this particular issue. You may not be able to tell from the pics, but the paint has spidered a bit and has flaked off. I would like to know if anyone has encountered this particular paint blemish, and how they went about correcting it. I'd like to fix this up before more of the paint flakes off. I've already ordered some of the OEM touch up paint. Thanks.

Take it to a bumper scuff specialist.. my guy will take care of something like that with the plastic bumper damaged (not just paint) and make it look new for $200 plus touch up minor body dings. So you could probably get that done for ~$100 just to be professionally touched up.. I'd stay away from the touch up kits.. they usually only give you a standard brush and it ends up looking like crap..

Yeah, I spoke to my acura dealer service manager when I ordered the touch up paint, and he suggested painting the bumper. He said that he has a good paint guy (at the dealer) and that they could do half a bumper for ~$150...which is probably what I'll end up doing if I can't get this fixed very well myself. But until then, I want something on there so that more paint won't flake off easily.

to tell you the truth, i don't think there is anyway to avoid the paint being flaky. the paint can only bend to a certain extent before it starts to chips. best way is to get it completely repainted =\

to fix it, sand the area to remove any loose chips, apply some primer to area and then touchup if it bugs you.
