Bubble Rust Along Roof Line + Windshield (plz halp)

So the one thing I really should have focused on doing I delayed to make the car look purdy.

I have bubbling on the passenger side of my TL where the glass meets the roof. If I pull the rubber seal back a bit I see rust. It is about 9" long and 1.5" at the widest point. Luckily it hasn't expanded yet. It doesn't cause leaks, phew...

Anyone know what this would cost to be repaired? Also the cost to just have the windshield removed and re-attached?

Located in Western PA, just north of Pittsburgh in case anyone knows or works at a suitable shop.

need to go to a bodyshop! The windshield will probably have to be removed and replaced if it breaks during removal, about $350 total. The rusted portion will have to be ground away until they get to clean metal. It needed, the shop will have to reinforce the area and then paint/prime the roof of the car.

It'll be about $1000 rough estimate with the work involved. Get it done soon as the rust will spread and get worse with time.

Appreciate the info folks. I pulled back some crap this morning to inspect it and it appears it has not spread so I'm in clearer skies for the meantime. I will definitely be taking it in this week to have it checked over. With luck, my latest connection may be able to hook me up on a inexpensive repair. But it's time to start shopping around...

Address this sooner than later though or you'll be kicking yourself in the ass later. When I say soon I mean like yesterday. lol. Your car is looking good tho man, keep it up

Thanks man!! Love your TL...
I only plan to keep this car for 2-3 more years so I think I may fix this myself. My plan is to mask the area off, sand the rust down as much as I can, then apply a rust primer and paint it with the OEM paint using a rattle can, and then wrap the roof with a matte black vinyl to conceal the newly painted area. I know it won't be perfect as it doesn't help what's under but it should make it look okay for the short time I'll have it.

Every shop has said $900-1200. Full cost for this would only be maybe $225 if that if I have someone else wrap the roof for me

Whoever replaced the windshield on your car did a poor job causing that rust. So when you guys go to have a windshield replaced, make sure it's done right

In addition to what has already been posted, add some rust bullet or por15 on top. Better safe than sorry.
