Battery cable

does anyone know the procedure to change the positive power cable

disconnect the NEG cable from the battery first-- so the electricty cant arc to you!!
then follow the POS cable down to the starter and remove- should be a few clips along the way holding it in place--thats a best guess- havnt changed one on a gen3

Has anyone changed a battery cable? Need to change mine and been looking for some advice. Is this a straight replacement, just removed and install the new one? This old thread its the only one I found regarding this, not much info.

Why are you changing the battery cable? I have hear and read on this site the OME batteries from honda are not the best. Are you having problems with yours?

Chap,
is your cable cracked or testing at a too-high ohm resistance level with a multimeter? Years ago, I had a bad battery connection in an Explorer, but just had to spend a couple bucks to change the cable post fitting...

Run your new one down & around to the starter, leave the old one where it is (unhooked of course)

The starter cable connects to 1) the positive batter post, 2) the starter, and 3) the under-hood fuse-relay box. if you can disconnect all three, you can swap it out.

Sorry for not been aware of all your answers. Finally I swap the cable this past weekend. It was like AndrewA mentioned, but damn disconnect and reconnect the starter connection was a PITA, not difficult but very inaccessible bolt. Tried to remove the battery metal-base, only to realized that there are two bolts under the base out of my reach .

I was forced to change the + terminal due to a lot of rust that ended up basically breaking the cable. I replaced the terminal for a cheap one that caused me problems starting the car a couple of times. That’s why I decided to change the whole part: only $32, a lot of sweat on a 90°+ temperature + 85% RH. Thanks for your help!

where did you get the cable for $32. I also changed the pos terminal on my cable due to corrosions but I've not had any starting issues since then. When working on my car last night I noticed some corrosion coming back again.

Glad it worked out for you eventually. Your post reminds me. I need to clean the battery terminals on all my vehicles...
