Automatic Transmission will not downshift in Auto Mode
Well sometimes I can't For some reason when I put the Transmission into manual mode it won't always downshift. I have taken the center console apart to check it out and it looks like the previous owner spilled soda or coffee in it. This is really going to drive me nuts since I prefer to drive in Manual mode!
I have a 3/36 with the car but have to wait 30 days from the date I purchased it to be able to make any claims on the warranty.
Does anyone know the general layout of the shifter, or even better does anyone have any diagrams. I would like to take this thing apart and try to clean it but really want a guide to go by.

What happens is the soda gets into the micro switches under the shifter and burns them
A few people have posted pics of the actual damaged part- there are 3 and you only want to replace the bad one(s)
It a pain of a job - check the warranty you have carefully to make sure it covers external transmission components
Otherwise get on your knees and start digging!

If you already have the console apart
Then get some CRC electical contact spray cleaner (or similar brand)
Let loose with it - assuming you got to the piece with the microswitches
and spray everything- you can try just spraying everything at random and hope too!
My car had same prob and intermittant use of SS
Dealer wanted 700 to replace!!!
3 bucks and some time spraying fixed it
another member did replace the 1 burned switch for cheap too
