I'm hearing several complaints about their 3G TL trans problem. I just purchased an 08 Tl type s assuming there are no trans problems. I even asked my dealer prior to purchasing the car and the dealer assured me that acura had fixed the trans problem. There has not been any trans recall from what i know. Has anyone's 08 TL trans die on them? I didn't purchase the extended warranty and i would hate to have my tl's trans die on me after the standard warranty expires.

 

there has been a couple and I mean a handfull of members on the site that have needed the 3g tl tranny replaced... and I am speaking for automatic tranny

the 6speed guys on the other hand... more than a handfull have been having a 3rd gear issue... where it pops out of gear

3g tl type s tranny - I have had only a couple of weird occurences (my theory is due to the vsa)... my tranny has gotten stuck in 2nd or 3rd... has occured twice total 1 in 3rd and 1 in second... but again it is not a tranny problem but a vsa problem as it has only occured when the car had gone over wet surface and I was flooring it (put it in neutral then back in drive no problems or weird noises)

 

73k miles and my tranny is still going pretty strong.

 

MY dealer was telling me that the chance of the 3G TL having a tyranny problem is 1 in 1,000. I guess if you're not lucky enough you will end up with a car with tyranny issue.

 

Well you have the TL-S which is the same tranny as the RL. The tranny probs were primarily with the TL-P
