Another dying battery?

Last year back in May the battery of my 05 TL would just die for no reason and I would have to boost it to get it started. Acura finally replaced the battery and it has been running fine until today. I didn't drive Sunday, but this evening when I tried to start the car, it would not start right up, and it sounded like it was going to just shut off but it eventually started. I attempted to boost with my other car and while the jumper cables were connected, the Acura would start right up with little problem, but as soon as I take the jumper cables off and try to start it; it does the same thing as before.

As I said I just got this brand new battery from Acura about a year and half ago, and it seems like its failing again. Is this normal? My 98 Ford escort (now dead) only had to have its battery replaced twice in the 10+ years and 100K+ miles that I've owned it, but it looks like I'm going to be on my third TL battery in only 44K miles.

i kid you not man the battery in my 02 CL type S lasted for 8 years and 87K miles......I just replaced it this November- 8 years after the car was manufactured. the battery had the marysville ohio address stamped on the top (the honda replacement batteries do not)

I live in MN and I put a nice fat 900CCA (0 Degrees F rating) battery in there and the car starts on the first try every time.

EDIT: might want to get your HFL checked out as that sucker is known to go bad and kill car batteries

My '01 Ford Ranger truck has its original battery and it was built in October, 2000. That makes the batter over nine years old!

The battery in my '04 TL is also the original from early July, 2004. My '05 TL had to have its battery replaced two years ago in November.

Acura just replaced my battery on my 07 TL type S. I only have 28k on it. They said you never know with batteries. Thats its. Luckily I still have the warranty. I hope this isn't a common occurrence. I have every intention of running it till it dies.

Acura just confirmed its the battery (again). Because its out of warranty, they want $111 and change to replace and install it. Seems a little high? Its another Acura battery and based on my experience with them, they do not seem to be any good.

Yeah I just talked to a guy at work also with a 05 TL, he's been through 3 batteries as well. He got one from walmart.

Question: I have a 98 Ford Escort sitting outside with a relatively new battery (less than a year old). The Escort itself won't run, but the battery itself is fine. So could I just use the Escort battery in my TL. In other words are car batteries interchangeable?

Mine was replace a year after I bought the car new. The most recent batery problem I had was the positive cable worked its way loose while on a trip to a cold Kansas town. Check that first. If tight, Interstate battery.

Yeah when I asked about the 100 month warranty listed on my current battery, they said it doesn't apply to me and I would have to pay out of pocket for a replacement because when I got the battery replaced the first time, it was under warranty and I didn't pay for it? Seems kind of dumb.

yup, this was at Acura Carland and I really wasn't satisfied with the service I received when I got my very first oil change back when I first got the car, so I had been going to Ed Voyles up until this year. The only reason I started going back to Carland was because it was a lot closer than Voyles and Ed Voyles seemed to have a habit of washing my car when I ask them not to.

I just got off the phone with Voyles, and they said pretty much the same thing; that the battery that was replaced under warranty only carries the original factory warranty and that I would have to pay out of pocket since my warranty is expired due to age. However the price they quoted me was $91 which is $20 less than Carland. After market batteries are around the same price or even more.

The easiest route seems to just pay Acura the $91 and let them do it and get the 100 month warranty, or pay more on an aftermarket battery. However the Acura batteries are crap; but when it fails again (which will probably be in the next year or so), I can get a replacement without having to deal with the hassles of going through an aftermarket manufacturer if their battery fails as well.

No one ever answered my question on using the battery from my dead Ford Escort; would it be possible to just use that one? The battery in the Ford is less than a year old and if it would work, I wouldn't have to pay a damn thing.
