could be a door lock acutuator that is ready to fail.

I have the same exact problem. I thought it was simply a characteristic of the vehicle.
I'm having my multiplex unit replaced this week (b/c of an unrelated door locking problem). Perhaps this will fix it.

Well, got the mulitplex unit replaced today b/c of the continual lock malfunction (lock button wouldn't work and would have to manually lock all doors). As expected, the unit didn't fix the screeching sound though.
The visit to the dealer, however, left me with another problem. Now, when I lower my rear left window, I hear a grinding/screeching noise coming from the window. It only happens when I'm lowering the window (doesn't happen when I'm raising it). Anybody have this happen?

and anytime you unlock the door for passengers, have them NOT pull on the handle the same time you hit the unlock switch...these things tend to be very sensitive and jam easily. i've seen these units...not the best quality and manufactured in vietnam.
