Alarm turns on when unlocking car
I bought my car with an aftermarket keyless remote and 1 out of 5 times when I unlock the car via the remote my factory car alarm would go on. My car thinks that somebody inside is unlocking the car and that's why it turns the alarm on. What do you guys suggest I do to fix my problem because it's really embarrassing sometimes and for the last week I have just been using my key to get inside my car which sucks on rainy nights.

Sounds to me like your aftermarket product is failing. I would definitely get in touch with that mfr to see if they have other reports or could point you to a failing device within that system. I wonder why they went aftermarket anyway...did you have autostart installed?

Yeah it has remote start which works perfectly, the only problem is when I unlock it via the remote and my alarm goes on. I guess I'll shoot an email to the mfr.

So I contacted audiovox and after being transferred 42342xxx times on the phone they basically told me that it's an installation problem. The alarm only comes on about 1 out of 5 times, so do you think it's a loose ground problem or something similar?

I could've told you it's an installation problem if I saw this thread earlier. Basically the installer needs to make the aftermarket alarm disable the factory alarm when you unlock your doors from the remote simultaneously. Or they should disable the factory alarm permanently.
What you need to do now is 2 options.
1. Go to an car alarm installer place and let them do that for you. They will charge you prolly $100 or less. I would think $75.
Or
2. If you are using your audiovox remote to unlock your doors then you néed to also use your stock OEM remote and unlock the doors with that remote too before physically opening the doors. So in essence what the audiovox alarm should do automatically for you now you are doing it manually.
Hopefully that makes sense. IMO pay the money and get it properly fixed. Even the kids at BEst Buy could fix this. Very simple. Not that I'm recommending you go there but they might be cheaper.

Thanks for the advice elegant type S, but there is no aftermarket alarm, it's just a keyless entry and remote starter. This is the system that I have: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...-Audiovox.html
It does disable the factory alarm most of the time. It just that 20% time that my alarm goes off. I guess I'll be stopping by Sun N' Sound on thursday to ask them.
