Air conditioning won't start
Hi everyone , I'm new to the forums and new in Acura's family ! I just bought a Acura TL type S 2008 1 week ago and during the inspection we saw that the A/C wasn't working . So we did a test to know where the problem was , but , there's no leak . We figured that , when I start the A/C , everything go fine except for the compressor . It doesnt start ! when we take a look at the compressor we're not seeing anythings wrong . So I wonder if it did happen to someone there and what you guys think is the problem ? I was thinking about a relay , a switch or something like that ? I hope the compressor isn't the problem cause I know that pretty expensive to buy a brand new one !
Thanks for answers !!

If the AC relay is bad, the compressor won't run, because the AC clutch won't engage. You can switch the AC clutch relay with another relay of the exact same - check the writing on the relays - and look at the diagram on the relay box lid.
As for pulling the relays, I don't know - my dealer gave me an official Acura relay puller. They only cost $5 each, but the manuf insists on selling them only 10-at-a-time, so ... if pulling with pliers, take care not to damage the relays.
And please let us know the problem when you find it - these are always interesting problems (to me anyway).

if the charge is on the low side then the compressor won't engage either. A good mechanic can jump the relay and confirm that the compressor works... then check pressures... I'd also talk to the seller, however if it's sold "as is" then you bought the problem and it's on you to fix it.

like the others said, check the charge. if that is OK check your clutch to make sure it is within spec. Next check the field coil. Going back to the seller in this case = no win for you as used cars are always sold "As is". Also make sure everything is pluged in.

Yes i knew it when i bought the car but now from what i can see , when i turn my A/C on the pulley that's suppose to engage the clutch compressor is turning fine but it's not engaging the clutch compressor ! so would it be the adjustement or somehing else ?
( sorry for the weird terms im using sometimes , english isn't my main language )

Spend $29 to have the A/C pressure checked and system charged. 90% of the time it's just dropped below pressure spec on R34. Simple fix, don't sweat it, just take it in.

That should only be done for a second just to see if the clutch is capable of engaging. There's always the chance the ecu is not allowing it to engage due to low pressure which usually means a leak and low lube.
I agree with others to get it professionally diagnosed.

Lol, doesn't everyone feel used when helping a new member who never reports back with an update?
Anyway, any updates, OP?? My clutch isn't coming on either. Swapped relay with another one, no change, then tried jumping the terminals on the relay and got nothing, which leads me to believe the power has been cut to the circuit by one of the pressure switches. I think I know where the low pressure switch is, so maybe I'll try jumping that next. Getting around 90lbs pressure on the low side, but that's to be expected with the compressor not running.

Also check the field coil resistence - someone will have to provide the correct spec, as I own an RDX.
Also, the RDX has a self diagnosis procedure for the HVAC system, which may help you, if there is such a procedure for your TL.
