Advice needed! Not too knowledgeable on car in general
Hi Guys,
So I've been having this issue with battery drain as many others have, and i believe it's not my battery nor my alternator (got them checked twice with no problem found). I let it sit for 3 or 4 days and battery dies again and again. it's Acura 06 TL with no navi
I read some of the posts about possible causes or fixes for those and because i'm not really knowledgeable on a car in general, i'd like to ask for some advises.
1) I'm not using HFL or anything really. I just drive from point A to point B and i put my cassette thingy and hook it up to my iphone to play music. is there anyway i could turn unnecessary electronic functions off (HFL etc) to see if that solves the problem? I really don't want to spend money on replacing something i don't use
2) Would it be better to bring it to dealershop than regular auto repair service if i can't get it done with myself? Can regular auto repair service troubleshoot and fix the battery drain problem? I'm trying to jump start my car next week and get it fixed for sure before thanksgiving.
If you know any good step by step reference to troubleshoot or any advice on where/how to approach this problem, I'd really appreciate any advice.
Thanks in advance!

You don't have to use hands free link for it to drain the battery. When the car is turned off at night the defective hands free link module will still be running with the car off.
A easy way to see if it's the HFL being the source of your problem is to do this.
Go to your vehicle and start the car.
On your MID display press the arrows left or right to scroll through the menu in the display screen on your gauges to "Hands Free Link"
Press SELECT on it.
If it says "Booting up..." and continuously stays at that screen than you have a defective HFL module and that's the source of your battery drain.
Happened to me. I used to use Bluetooth to talk until I noticed one day it wasn't working. I noticed it said "Booting up...." and stayed there. After a quick search here on AZine I found out it was defective and disconnected it.

I have a similar problem. My car battery drains over night. I drove constantly and was told my starter was bad so I got it replaced. Still hasn't solved the problem. My dash won't turn on or anything but I have to jump start it to make it start working.

Hey guys,
Thanks for all the posts. Here is quick question I just want to double check.
So I disconnect the board that sits inside the black cover as you guys advised. Is this what you guys meant? On the screen when i click select on HFL it still says booting up and was wondering if drainage problem is solved.
