Adjusting Air Bypass Valve
Adjusting Air Bypass Valve
Hey guys,
on a trip
just did a timing belt and put 300 miles on the car.
having problems with power. Car is low on power and always feels like it’s in the wrong gear.
I did remove the Air Bypass Valve near the power steering pump during the timing belt removal. I did not know it had gears and lost the timing of the motor.
I brought tools with me to readjust it, but does anyone know which way the gear on the intake manifold will go for full open or full closed? I do not think the valve is opening fully on the highway.
please help. I did search google and this forum and cannot find any links on adjusting or installing this Air Bypass Valve.
thanks

Aha - knowing to search for keyword IMRC has yielded more fruit!

Update: success!
With car off, bypass doors are closed and actuator is at rest. The actuator unit has a tiny clocking key that fits into a notch on the cover, and the acutator's gear teeth slide right into the bypass door's gear and two hex bolts tighten smoothly. Sorry for no pics, had greasy hands.
Test drive had great power, no lag or off-key behavior. Felt better than ever!
