Greetings, comrades! So I finally got my Inspire back from the shop after converting the flywheel to 1-mass, putting in an Acura Legend disc, and doing other various transmission related work (namely - replacing my third gear set with an updated one). Everything seems to be in proper working order, but I had a slight problem while breaking everything in. I set off from the shop, and while going hard in second gear - I upshifted to third, ever so slightly grinded the gear (didn't even hear much of a sound, actually), and went on driving. The problem didn't reoccur. However, when I got to the carwash, after they finished washing my car - I couldn't get the box into reverse. I don't know whether this is related to that grind I had earlier, or whether this is due to a faulty reverse sleeve (my shop warned me that it had to be replaced, together with the reverse synchronizer spring/ring - and that this might cause reverse not to work). I did eventually force it in, and it seems to be operating tolerably (with a slight notch), but now I'm a bit worried. My shop says that the spring (number six on this parts diagram - https://www.acurapartswarehouse.com/...ear-shaft.html) prevents reverse from engaging without my consent. I am a bit concerned that I might have broken the ring. Does anybody know, will a broken ring lead to a possibility of reverse engaging by itself, or is there no need for me to worry? It might not be broken, maybe it's just paranoia (I literally just had the box assembled, so I really don't want to tear it apart again just to check), but I wouldn't mind having a little reinsurance.
