hi , So i am in the process of looking at purchasing a 6mt TL

I hear stories about 3rd gear going out and grinding. I am a bit worried as I don't want to pick one up that has that issue. Is the grind occasionally or always?


What tests could I preform on the car to see if 3rd gear is good? Is there any specific rpm range or thing that happens for the grind to occur or is it always just a random thing?

 

Mine was occasional, until I switched to GM Syncromesh. After that no more grinds and shifting is smooth as butter.

Wish I wasn't going on vacation this week, can't wait to test drive some TLs. I got the cash in hand now its kind of good that im leaving gives me time to do research.
