3rd brake light - only one side working

Has anyone had their 3rd brake light go out? Only one side of mine is working. I took it off and looked at it and it seems to be a series of single LED's. Does the whole thing need to be replaced or is there a fix?

I also had some problems not only with my third brake light but all of my break lights. Some times they would come on bight and other times they would come on but very dim and it would also look like half of the third light was not lit. I took it back to the dealer and they tried replacing the third break light but that did not fix it. They had to replace the break light switch. If you have the same problem to check it do not place the car in park and pump the breaks. That will allow pressure to build in the break lines and the switch will trun the lights on bright. The car needs to be in nuetral or drive for the break lights to run as they would normaly and not build pressure.

It needs to be replaced as a whole unit.
