3G TL Failing Window / Weather Stripping Fix
Not rocket science but figured I'd share my own little fix since I'm sure that as time goes on MOST of us will encounter this issue as the rubber's been baking in the FL sun for 10 years now.
It happened to my rear window outer "moleskin" type of weatherstripping...it corroded at the bottom and the fist 6 inches were flapping in the wind. Note that I am pretty good about a yearly application of shin etsu, but this one was too far gone. I'm sure I could just replace the rubber, but this will work for now. My first fix was to put a piece of gorilla tape in there and that held up for a year or 2 but the sun eventually cooked the adhesive backing on it.
Yesterday I ran a dab of black adhesive silicone rtv along it and then used some plastic shims fro when I installed my laminate flooring to hold in place while it dried. I'm sure this will hold up for quite a lot longer than the tape!
Hope it helps someone out,
J.

Thanks, boys.
Honestly, I would PROBABLY buy it but it feels like a waste since the majority of the rubber is just fine. Also, I changed out that piece that holds the rear quarter glass in place...it was a pretty penny, a PITA to change out and guess what...the replacement one is now getting those weird ridges on it too!
