2008 TL Rear Rotor Removal SNAFU

Hey all,

Does anyone have an exploded diagram of the rear emergency brakes on a 2008 TL? I am not new to this, took 2 hours to get them off my car, looks like the car was parked in a lake the last 3 years under those rotor hats. Finally got them off, shoe linings crumbled and pins and hardware were snapping has I was finally able to draw them off with bolts through the rotor. What was left of the shoes just crumbled.

Off to Napa to get new shoes and hardware kit. Would be helpful if someone took pity on me and could post this to make the install a little smoother.

I cannot believe the shape the shoes and hardware are in after 5 years and 73k miles. To think I was going to do a quick afternoon job of wire brushing the hats to spray some new paint to clean them up and be done, no good deed goes unpunished in my land LOL.

They are on; however, they were mothers to get the rotors back on. I got them on and they are dragging. Yes double checked adjuster and the way screwed shut and tension off hand brake handle. Used rubber mallet to get them on. Drive about 15 miles and they got hot. Hope whatever is in the way gets clearanced.

I will put some more miles on today, I hope this works out. Going to inhale if I have to do this job twice.

Ended up doing it twice. There was a rust ridge around the inside of the rotor hat which was odd because I never use the emergency brake. Busted out the grinder and took the edge down, the rotors slide on and off effortless now. Still have to do the adjustment from the center console to complete rebuild.

I have had since new and the car is clean, minimal to zero rust, just emergency brake assemblies were not looking too good. It was the rotor that ended up being the source of my issues. I have done a lot of brake work over the years and have never seen a rust ridge like that and the shoes crumbled once apart. It is fixed now, took an azz whipping on something that shouldn't have taken more than an hour.
