Im in the same boat, ive said 3 sets put in, 1 prior to TSB, one after, and 3rd just recently.

I tried to get the aspec, my dealership service manager was the one who recomended it. The rep i was dealing with told me they do not make an A-spec for the type S just the base model!! I told her she was full of S*it and that i knew people with a type S with it and my dealship parts dept pulled it up.

So a week later i get a call saying after review my case they have decided that the noise was just a trait of the part and there was nothing they were gonna do, i had a fit and demanded to go to someone above her, she got me in touch with Kevin Brown. He told me he wasnt sure about the a-spec but would look into it and call me.

about a week later he called and said they would like to try another set of post TSB struts. few min later my dealership called me to set up the appointment for the following week, the day before i was to go in, Kevin called me to say they now want to try base model TL sturts all the way around!! i said whatever just fix my car!! So i have the base model TL struts but the noise didnt completely go away, but its only coming from the right rear. I didnt have any performance differance with them but im still trying for the a-spec to see if that will help. Im just getting sick of dealing with this!!

If I paid for a TL-S I don't want no Base TL Struts. The less I can get is an A-Spec suspension.

... I've got about 4,000 miles on mine now.... It has quieted down a bit...... after driving the car at about 30 mph over speed bumps..... when you would typically slow down for a car you liked..

I also have the regular TL suspension in my car, and I am still not convinced that the TSB is a fix. This will be the third time, if they replace the suspension again, and based on my conversation with Acura, the third time better be the charm, or I will have no option but to take the car back.

The A spec may be the way to go, for a long term fix. How does it compare to the TLS suspension??

Thanks

Viraf

Well everyone here is the latest offer. The regional rep says he'll split the cost of an A-Spec suspension and install with me. It would end up costing me $500.
Part of me says no you pay it all and the other part is tried of all this and i should take the deal. So i need some input.

Deal or No deal?

No deal Howie.

Would you spend the money if NOT for the problem...probably not. I know I wouldn't.

I'd make them take it all the way.

Actually i might have. I had always thought that suspension is what should of come on the car in the first place and it does help the shrink the wheel gap a bit. I just didn't want to spend $1000 on it.

How much does it lower it?

BTW, with them replacing the struts, have you noticed any extra rattles in the rear...as in bass rattle? I had a terrible one after they replaced mine. I finally fixed it a couple weeks ago.

Ya know, after the "fix" on mine...remember, I was the first to receive the new TSB parts...mine REALLY is better. There is still a slight noise, but its not too bothersome. OR MAYBE I've just got used to it...dunno!

I think the Acura engineers may have made an error in making the car too quiet in respect to road noise. This allows the driver to hear every single rattle, ping, and clunk possible.

I'm think it lowers the car about 1/2 inch. Which is perfect since i live in a snowy climate (snow and potholes).

Since i've had the struts replaced 3 times i've had no extra rattles from the swap. They did scratch a piece of trim once but it was replaced. If i do the A-Spec deal it will be the 4th swap.

??

I would think that extra clearance would be in order, not less.

Not real clear was it. What i tried to convey was that if i were to lower the car for looks and handling a 1/2 inch would not be to drastic verses the typical 1" or more drop. So a nice balance. 1/2 inch helps a little on the wheel well gap but won't make much difference when it comes to getting around on those snowy days.

I gotta tell you, at low mph it's almost unbearable if you don't have the stereo blasting.
But when you're in the 70-100mph range, it's as smooth as silk.

I just read all the pages to this point hoping for a solution. I have an 05 6speed with Aspec suspension and I am having the same noise problems described in this thread. I just started noticing the noise about 3 weeks ago and I've had the Aspec shocks/springs for less than a year. I also have a Comptech rear sway bar. I'll check the bushings on that. So far the noise is annoying.

It's been a few months since the TSB was performed on my car and I'm afraid that the "clunk" is back. I'll get my dealership to look at it today and I guess ACS is my next step. Any info concerning the deal Acura offered on the A-Spec suspension upgrade will be appreciated.

I'm still on the i pay half they pay half deal. If i push them i might loss that deal. I have until mid December to deside. I was ready to do it because i wanted the A-Spec anyway but after reading a recent post about someone complaining that their A-Spec was making the same noise i'm at a total loss now.
What to do.

Have a 07 TLS 6MT and when I first got the car the noise was very minor. Now with 5K it is very very anoying. Appears to only be happening with the rear right side when I go over bumps. When I had my snow tires put on I saw the part number label on the struts and they are the "new" ones. Any one know of when Acura plans on putting out another TSB with the right fix?

I spoke with the dealer and they have not heard of anything new. This is getting really anoying.

Can beliew you pay $38K for a car that rattles like a ford.

I have an '08 Type S and having the clunking sound in my rear suspension. It's more prominent in the rear right. After reading through these posts, I don't know if I should bring it into the dealer for them to take a look at it.

Yesterday I called up the dealer where I bought the car from and asked them if they are aware of this problem with TL Type S. They told me they never heard of it before. The dealer is Sussman Acura located in Jenkintown, PA. Have anyone here brought there car to this dealership regarding this problem?

This is my first Acura and it's turning out to be a nightmare.

I hate to say it bro, but I think the dealership is bs'ing you. Acura released a TSB (technical service bulletin) a few months ago concerning the parts that need to be replaced and I find it hard to believe that a dealership wouldn't know that. I printed the TSB out and took it to the dealership when I went in to schedule the service. Somewhere in this thread you can find a link to the TSB. Good luck.

I've had the TSB work done and mine still has what you're describing. From what I'm getting from this thread, and what seems to be Acuras stance, the "slight thumps" are here to stay.

Last time I went to my dealership the Service Department tried to tell me that the TSB wasn't to fix any "bad parts" in the suspension; but rather, to "prevent premature tire wear".

This is the second Acura I've purchased in the past two years so I asked for what I got. But I won't make this mistake again. The car isn't what truly pisses me off - It's the dealerships incompetence, failure to take responsibility, and lack of helpfulness.

Does anyone know if we can install base TL suspension on Type-S model? I asked the dealership and they told me it doesn't fit. I find that strange b/c it's the same car with more sportier options.

You can. It changes the handling only slightly. But why?

Why pay for and own an "S" without the benefits of the"S"? Coulda saved $$ and bought the regular TL then, right?

I can live with it, but it's annoying to hear the clunking sound. It sounds like something is broken in the suspension.

Hope Acura will address the problem and come up with another fix that works.

I just got mine fixed today, thank god, that clunking could make you kill someone.
The rep said there were 30K units affected in 07, no news on the 08's though

They replaced both struts/dampers in the rear.
TY Acurazine, because I thought it was just a sporty rough ride, until the clunking started to happen.
Now I just gotta wait til it dries up to see the true difference.

DCH Montclair Acura, Carlos Reyes, thank you.

Are there any more updates on this? I've had the rear done on the car once, with no noticable change in noise. Since then, it has become SO bad I don't even want to drive the car anymore. The front is clunking now, as bad as the rear. Top that noise off with the numerous interior rattles... I feel like I bought a Chevy Impala rather than an Acura. I'm wondering if anyone else has front noise issues as well..? What has the dealer done to fix that? I will be sending mine in over the Holidays to see what they will do about it.

Has anyone here replaced Type-S suspension with base TL model suspension? I'm really considering it since there are no available fix for this problem. I know it's going to cost me an arm and a leg, but I've already put so much in the car already. Hope Acura will work something out with me to lower the price of the replacement.

This sucks.. I should of gotten a Beemer.

Acura numerous noises

Scott P.

My car was really bad for the first 2k miles.... it now has 5K on it... I really don't hear any rear susp noise anymore but... The transaxles and or transmission always clank from shifting, no strut noise from the front though. I am so thankfull I leased this car. I drive it as if it were a $500 clunker, .... It's a shame, but I just don't give a $#%! about the car... I miss my BMW. I feel your pain ref not wanting to drive it.

I scheduled my to go in for next Tuesday. This will be the second time fixing the rear suspension and first for the front. Now I notice an increasingly loud CLUNK on the drivers side rear, when I apply the brakes somewhat heavily. I feel like the bottom of the car is going to fall out from under! I told the service writer I dont want the car back until it is fixed. Stay tuned.
