2007 TL, Random Tranmission Issue, Almost like it can't find a gear?

Hey all ! Back again. I will say that this 2007 TL has been the best vehicle I've ever had. Just took it to Florida and back bringing it up to 240k miles. I think it's been like a year since I last posted with some random problem, so, kudo's to Honda for these amazing vehicles!

While I was on the highway I noticed that it would like, either, slip or feel like it would shift down a gear, then up a gear, then down a gear, then up a gear. It only does this under constant throttle. I didn't think much of it until I was driving around town yesterday and it started to do the same thing at 40MPH (under constant throttle as well) instead of at high way speeds. It seems totally random. It'll do it for a few moments, then stop. Is the trans dead or what LOL?

I did the 3x3 (ATF DW-1, drain, filled, drove 6 miles between each drain and fill) change about 30k miles ago, going to drain and fill 3 quarts as soon as our weather warms up, so. Hopefully I don't need a rebuild but, seeing as the car has had semi-rough downshifts and a flare when shifting from 2nd to 3rd for the last 53,000 miles I'm not going to hold my breath lol. My gut seems to think the trans is about done. It does a lot of random shit that makes me feel like it's gonna blow/is weak. I'm fine with getting a rebuild (or drop and swap if that's better), I just don't wanna get caught with my pants down 70 miles away from home lol.

Thank you!

did you change the pressure switches? That helps greatly!

Check your accelerator pedal position sensor, common for them to fail at higher miles and cause wonky throttle/shifting. (APP Sensor)

If you do go with a rebuild, make sure they use the kits that include the upgrades for valve body and tq converter so they function better than when new!

After you change switches, if it still is giving trouble try a tube of lubegard instant sudder fixx.

I did that 3rd and 4th Gear Clutch Oil Pressure Sensors that was rather interesting. So, before I replaced them the damn car would throw you forward it down shifted so hard. Then, after replacing them, it down shifted almost perfectly but has flair from 2nd to 3rd (easy fix, just let off gas as it changes gears, or shit below 2k or above 3k RPM) whereas before the sensors were replaced it up shifted fine, so. Idk what wizard at Honda made these transmissions but they sure are funky.

I'll look into the APP! That sounds easier than a new trans. Thanks for the tips on the rebuild!

So what I"m describing is called a "shudder"?

2007 has 3 switches vs the 2 for 04-06 so you forgot 1!!!!

The trans on the 3G TL isn't the most stout, but better than 2G TL.

pressure switches, APP sensor, maybe gear position sensor? maybe if you cleaned the solenoid screens and changed the trans filter with a fluid change it could help. likely APP or gear position sensor though, im getting a similar thing, it hangs between 2-3 if im 20-60% on throttle between 2nd-4th or 4th-2nd

Hopefully it's the APP. It hasn't been doing it for the last few weeks, so, hopefully whenever it does go my shop can figure it out. My mechanic told me that his only other client with a 07/08 TL wanted him to replace the engine and trans just because it has 345k miles on both but it's still running. He refused to do the work. Best all around car EVER made!!
