2006 TL 6MT RPM loss
Hello everyone, I'm having an issue with my 2006 TL 6 speed manual during acceleration where I suddenly lose a few hundred RPMs, almost like I'm letting up on the gas a little, but I'm not. I suspect that the clutch is slipping but I'm not entirely sure if it is or if it's something else. This happens in 2nd gear and up. Possibly related is that I'm getting poor gas mileage, around 14 mpg and I'm using 93 octane gas. I'd really appreciate having a little help in determining what's going on. Here's a video I took of the issue happening in 2nd gear.
Thank you very much

Here’s some more video, first one is me stomping on the gas in 2nd gear. It doesn’t lose RPMs, it just hesitates around 3k.
And another where I stomp on the gas in 3rd. I don’t have a whole lot of road to work with right now so I couldn’t go too fast. It hesitated just under 3k

Doubtful clutch...RPMs are going the wrong way. A slipping clutch would have RPM spikes as it slips.
Thinking TPS maybe? Although that should materialize itself in all gears...but something to keep in mind. See if you can reproduce the same stutter at 3k RPMs using cruise control.

So it still stutters a little bit when using cruise control. On a hunch, I checked the spark plugs and it has denso plugs, not ngk’s. I’m no car expert so I don’t know But I think it might cause the stuttering and it might have to do with low gas mileage.

Unlikely to be O2 sensors.......although you never know. I swear someone else posted a similar stutter about 3-4 years ago.....Is your oil level fine? Maybe EGR or coils? I'm sure others will be along with better more focused suggestions.

@jackass
My coils are fine, but my oil level is actually high! And my valve cover gaskets are blown! I'll be changing them out this weekend. Along the way I'll be cleaning out the throtle body and EGR valve. I've never done any of this before so I'm more than a little bit intimidated.

I'll check my catalytic converter over the weekend and I'll post the results

So the car threw a CEL the other day indicating an EGR issue, so I took it in to my mechanic. It was an electrical issue, it didn’t need to be cleaned or replaced. But it didn’t fix the issue. Today my clutch definitely slipped pretty bad.
