2006 Acura TL Transmission Failure

Regarding 2006 TL transmissions. Mine just failed at 51,000 miles. We have had the car serviced since new at the Acura dealer. We were 9 miles east of Wallace, Idaho and the the transmission failed completely. No forward, no reverse and no lights came on. What would cause this? The dealer noted that the transmission fluid was burnt but offered no suggestions as to what caused this failure. Acura treated us well. A factory rebuilt trany was installed and they paid for towing, but the whole experince makes me less than confident in Honda engineering. They say the 2nd generation problem was fixed, but this makes me wonder.

Also, I was considering a 2013 RDX. Any experience out there with RDX transmissions?

Any thoughts on what the problem might have been?

Poor design somewhere in the system. Aftermarket rebuild kits have addressed some of the problems dont think honda has as yet. I am on tranny #3 in my 06. All under warranty. Not sure about the mdx. I hear the RL Based trans is better but there are not that many with mileage so time will tell. I have 3 trans in our 00 Odyssey as well
