2005 Acura TL transmission problem - not coasting after cold start?
Hi all,
I don't really know much about cars but here is my problem.
I've owned my TL since July and I am now noticing a problem as the weather has gotten colder.
I have recently done a transmission fluid change, and this was done before I started experiencing the problem. Probably about 1 month or so before the problem occurred.
If I let the car sit for a while and it cools down, I have a problem with coasting. So, when I put it into drive, it accelerates fine. My neighboorhood's speed limit is 25mph, so once I reach or surpass that, sometimes I let off of the gas. When I let off the gas, my car shakes a bit and slows down very quickly, instead of coasting forward. When this happens, the tachometer is usually at 2000 and doesn't drop down to 1000 as it normally would. If I hit the brakes while this is happening, I can feel a noticeable jerk when downshifting.
As I am slowing down very quickly when my foot is let off the gas and get down to 15ish mph, the car's RPMs drop, and it coasts normally.
When I experience the issue, it feels like the car is being bogged down and it shakes a little. Once I get out of my neighboorhood at 35mph, and I let off of the gas, it coasts perfectly fine. It then shifts fine for the whole rest of my drive, no matter what speed I am going.
It has seemed to develop the problem as it has gotten cold, as I didn't notice it during warmer temperatures.
I'll also mention that how I know the problem is about to occur, is when I accelerate and it seems to not want to shift into the higher gear, as it would normally do after it is warmed up.
Thanks
