2004 TL Door Locks Don't Work

I am unable to lock the doors on my 2004 TL. I have tried with both remotes...with no response, as well as using the lock/unlock switch by the inside door handle. Interestingly enough the unlock buttons work/click.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Is it frozen? Hopefully, all you need to do is get the car into a warm garage and it will thaw out. I wouldn't use a cigarette lighter to warm it up, however.

Are you saying the door button clicks, but the locks do not respond?? If that is the case, it might be the lock actuator unit.

Or are you saying the remotes do not work, but the door button does?
In that case, 1) the remote batteries need to be changed or, more likely since both stopped at the same time, 2) the remotes have become unlinked from the car, and can be relinked per instructions on back of the remotes and in the manual.

The car is inside a heated garage, so I don't think that's it. Also, the other remote functions work...but I tried replacing the battery anyways. No luck!

Sitting inside the car, even, the lock action doesn't work. I get the click when unlocking, but nothing when attempting to lock. Also, the automatic lock function doesn't work, even though it is set up to do so.

The actuator is a good idea...

I had this exact same problem when I first purchased my '04 in November. It took me three separate visits to finally get the problem resolved (hopefully):

1) The dealer first changed the driver door actuator. I couldn't tell at the time whether the replacement of the actuator had fixed the problem b/c the door locks started working again the day of my appointment. A week or two after the replacement, they stopped working again.

2) The dealer then reset the Multiplex Unit "per Acura techline", even after assuring me that they would replace the Multiplex Unit. Although the locks began working after they reset the unit, they stopped working a week after the appointment.

3) Finally, the dealer replaced the multiplex unit itself. It's been two weeks now since I got the unit replaced. I'm hoping the problem doesn't arise again.

Good luck!

i also had the exact same problem with my '04 TL...after 3 visits, just like hlee1, they replaced the ECU for the electrical system and it fixed the problem...

first they tried cleaning out the inside of the door and locks....

then they replaced the lock switch if i remember right...

finally they replaced my ecu and it's worked since then...

I have a door unlocking problem

I have an 04 MT TL. All my passenger doors(front and rear) will not unlock using the keyfob or door switches. They all lock from the switch and keyfob. They all failed simultaneously. The only door working properly is the drivers door. Any troubleshooting techniques? I have a copy of the service manual.

Thanks

This is an old thread, but I'm having the same issue. Once I replace the multiplex Unit (And is the cause of the issue) will the fob just work? Or do I need to re-program?

The fob should work from what I read. Try this for a test. Lock the doors manually and then hit lock on the fob. Do the lights flash and the beep sound work? If so, your fob has communication. Replace the MICU and all should be back to normal.

Refer to this thread for more details.

Thanks Breezy, I did find that thread and that's where I got my information from (other than this one). I just wanted to ensure it all works fine once I do the switch.

Great help!

Can't guarantee it will work, but I believe you can relearn the system yourself. I have never looked into it.
