'08 Type S steering wheel emblem delaminated
This is probably something that can't be fixed. I realize that. But I just wanted to throw this out there in case someone had an issue like this.
Basically, the clear paint on my steering wheel emblem chipped off and now the chrome color is wearing off, revealing an ugly white plastic beneath it. The local dealership's parts department told me that the emblem isn't sold separately, and that the whole airbag comes as a single unit. Is this true? I really wish I could pop out my current emblem and replace it with a new one.
My fall back plan is to tediously mask it off and paint it gloss black, but without anything else really being black it will look stupid - just less stupid than worn off chrome plastic ugliness. I have yet to find a chrome spray paint that looks good.
Any ideas?

Thanks! I didn't think it was such a widespread issue so I didn't bother searching.
I imagined that painting it was my only option. Now I'm curious if I can find a silvery color that matches the trim on the door handle/around the shift boot/etc and then hit it with a matte clear afterward. If I can get a good match that would probably be better than gloss black.
