08 Battery Died
I went out to my car Sunday morning and notice that my key fob isn't unlocking the door and the security light is off. I open it with the key, try to start it and the battery is as dead as a doornail. Nothing was inadvertantly left on but something obviously drained it (perhaps hood/trunk light on?). Has anyone else had this problem with an 08 (only 7 months old)?
PS - I am taking it to the dealer this afternoon providing I can jump it to have them run a full diagnostic (a 4-hour drive and lost day of work). Thanks for listening to my brief rant and curious to know other's experiences with this. At least I'll have a chance to check out the 09 if they have any.

I can assure you it wasn't the battery terminal
my battery died in 07 on my 07, I replaced it for a Braille 21lbs battery
the batteries the tl comes with off the dealer lot are CRAP CRAP CRAP
they'll replace the battery no questions asked, but are you sure you want that pos

dealer should replace that no questions asked. my local dealer waited for me after hours to replace my dead battery. despite being inconvenienced, i was quite pleased with them being nice about it.

When I bought my 08 TL-S I swapped the battery with the TSX I was trading in. It was a Optima yellow top. I knew the batteries were cheap. I've had no issues with the Optima. Good luck.

In my previous TL's I had no problems with the battery for at least the first 3 years of ownership, which to me was normal especially in FL's heat.
My experience with the dealer revealed no answers. They checked the battery out every which way but lose (including once with me watching) and it showed no flaws so they didn't replace it. Neither could they find any flaws in the electrical system that would have led to a drain. In any event, the only thing they could tell me was that if it happened again I would have to leave it with them to see if they can replicate the problem. I'm not real happy with that choice but don't know what else they can do.
Thanks for your responses. I'll keep you all posted on any further incidents (and their fixes).

the hands free unit sometimes stays on after the car " goes to sleep " cause over the 50 mil amps of draw. some where between 230 and 275 draw. the hands free is warm to the touch hours after the car has been off.

mine died at about 1.5 yrs of age. sat in my garage for 2 weeks and when I came back it was dead. nothing left on, never run electronics/windows on ACC power, but I think it gave me one indication about a week before that happened...like a slow start one morning.

^I agree. I have two identical Honda battery's.
Both cars are garage kept and I'm still on the original 4yrs later on one (2004) and 2yrs on the other (2006). Both have died on me with minimal draw in a short period of time. I just spoke to someone with an 2006 and they can't leave the doors open for more than 5 minutes with the interior lights on.

Just thought I'd give you all an update: the car has started perfectly (so far) since the "drain" occurance. Acura Corporate has been in touch with me several times regarding my service experience and I let them know I wasn't too pleased that the dealer couldn't find the problem and didn't offer to replace the battery as a courtesy. I just hope the original problem doesn't happen again and leave me stranded somewhere. Thanks again for your input and experiences.

...this just happened to my 07 TL-S with 27k miles which is 4months shy of 2 years old...drove it yesterday, went to drive it tonight and all i heard was that clicking sound....called acura RSS, guy came out and said the battery and connections (forget the exact name) need to be replaced...honestly I find this to be RIDICULOUS for such a new car...I've have multiple lexus and mercedes cars and they've NEVER had battery issues in at least the first 5-6 years of ownership...I'm contacting the dealership tomorrow and having both the battery and connections replaced under warranty

ya the newer honda/acura batteries seem to be quite weak. up here we get -40'c in the winter. so i went to costco and got myself a optima yellow top before i get stranded this winter. At the shop i work at i've personally done at least a dozen of honda/acura's that are less than 4 years old with dead batteries.

The battery on my '07 was never good. After about 5 months, my car died after running the radio with the engine off for about 30 minutes. Had to jump the battery 3-4 times after that under similar circumstances. Thought I was neglectful.
Finally after a year I came out one day and it gave some trouble cranking over, so I took it to the dealer. They checked the electrical system and found that the car was fine, but that the battery barely held a charge. They swapped it under warranty with no problem...
