07 Type S.,Oil pump replacement or seal..
Well car went to dealer for oil change, tranny fluid and tire rotation.Get a call saying oil pump needs replacement,it is leaking. When they dropped gravel pan saw some oil there.I bring my car exclusively there and im anal on maintaining it.They treat me good but my question is could it be the pump seal which is common? Quoted me $1700 to replace the oil pump.Any suggestions? Car has 126k on it and has had all required maintenance/replacement since new.

If you're not getting any oil drops on the ground after sitting overnight and the oil level isn't dropping between oil changes, I wouldn't worry about it at all for now.

Ditto. Wait till you start having to add oil or it annoys you that it drips on the ground. The process involves taking the timing belt back off. If you can stretch it to the second t belt, you'llsave some coin. Also I've never seen one need an oil pump go bad yet, usually just the seals.

I just did my 105k service at a local shop and had the same issue. I have to put about a quart of oil in every couple months. I've never had oil spots in my parking spot but they said it comes out while driving. They quoted me 700 labor and parts and said it doesn't have to he done when they do a tb service. If I provide my own parts I can save more money. They said it's about 230 for the part alone and about 450 for labor. I don't remember what they said the part was I think it was the pump itself.
Since I had just dropped 1000 on the service and a valve adjustment along with 1000 on new tein street flex coilovers, I held off and just decided to keep topping it off. I might do it when I have to do a clutch replacement in a few years. Until then I'm fine topping it off as log as its not obvious as I'm driving. I currently have 101000 miles.

Hi everyone,
Just thought I would share some of the success people are having on the Honda Ridgeline Forum. Many have stopped various oil leaks by replacing their seized PCV valve. The Acura TL's is located right next to the oil dip stick. It may be worth the $20-$30 to replace it first vs. the cost of replacing the oil pump seal?

^^ it's only 20 bucks so maybe i'll give it a shot. it can't do anything wrong at this point, only potential for helping. i've removed this part in the past but never knew what it was haha.
does anyone have pics of the seepage area? i haven't gone down there lately to see the leakage
yea i have to top off oil every month or two months. my oil actually went very very low one day (dipstick completely dry) and i had trouble starting the car and i freaked out (time went by quicker than i thought and i forgot to top off).
i've been hesitant about using the vtec when i haven't checked the oil in a while. i think i'm starting to get oil spots in my parking spot so i may have a shop tackle this in the next few months so i don't have to worry about it.

I changed my PCV valve when I first got the car. All I was told is when these get clogged it can damage seals which I do not want to pay for. For $20 it gave me a piece of mind, at 76k miles the PCV valve was dirty but not really clogged in any manner. Not sure if the changing of the PCV valve made a difference or not with the leak though

my dealer quoted me $1600 for the same thing. That was 3 years ago. I never see oil on garage floor, just find a little on the filter when I do the changes. I have 203,000 miles and car is running great. I would wait as long as it is not an issue.

I have the same oil leak in my 07 tl-s, currently at 169k miles. I havent noticed any oil drops on my floor, and dont need to top off between oil changes. Basically all it does is makes my oil pan look oily. Im planning to hold off on fixing it until my 2nd timing belt service, I suggest you wait the wait, unless your leak gets worse

I just recently did my timing belt and noticed the oil pump was just barely seeping around the edges. So I decided to pull it since i was in there. BIG mistake! The pump does not come out without removing the exhaust and oil pan. Not to mention the oil is not gasketed so you have to allow time to dry silicone. So along with everyone else. If its not leaking too bad, just leave it. However, the price to fix is justified considering the amount of labor to get into the timing components and everything, but there are a few other little things in the area that should be checked first.

So today I took a look at my oil pan after I drove today. On the way home I deicded to also gun the car for a brief moment to 6500rpm from gears 1-4, then 5000rpm in 5th & coasted in 6th. The next 4 kilometres before I got home was regular driving conditions. After taking a look, I'm starting to think the PCV valve may have actually decreased the amount of leakage.

Sorry I do not. But what I can tell you is that the lighter spot is the old stain. In person you can tell that area is dry. The darker spot is the current leak area.
Plus I went to the dealer a couple weeks ago for service including an oil change, & I was surprised they didn't say anything about the leak. I'll try & take photos another day under completely normal driving conditions & see how the pan looks after.
