07 Acura TL Type S - Died on me

Last time I checked honda's weren't supposed to leave their owners stranded

Well my tl left me so

At 830am eastern time, new york temperature was 14 degrees... She started no problem,(alternate side parking is a bitch) left her on for few minutes, then at 1000am, turned her on again no problem

1100pm... I hit the unlock button on the remote, there was a delay then she unlocked, I opened the driver side door and noticed the dome lights were kinda dimmed, didn't think too much of it till I entered, inserted the key, and turned, headlights and gauges all powered up, but rather than starting, the headlights blinked along with the gauges and nothing happend..

Well I was supposed to be at work at 1130pm.. No such luck

So I call acura roadside assistance, they say we'll send you help, I get a call back from automated message, they say, 45mins, I am like wat the hell, so I call the job and ask for my break first which is no biggie so I can go in to work at 1230am... Long story short and 3 trains later I get to work at 1245am.. Way late... On a freezing nyc night, coldest in 5 years if I am not mistaken

Gotta love honda

Possible diagnosis
1. Frozen or dead battery
2. Starter went

Car specs - 6000 miles, oil change on the mid at 30% left, coolant levels where they are supposed to be

Will update in a few hours

Wow, that's really odd to hear and really sucks too. Hopefully it gets fixed and is nothing too serious.

I agree, alternate side parking is a bitch and I hate dealing with it.

Good luck and let us know what the problem is.

Unfortunately, the battery is not an Acura strong suit. As soon as the temp. gets around 25 degrees here in Ohio, I can hear the engine cranking a little slower than it did at 40, and I begin to worry about it. I think my first "mod" will be to change the battery and move it to the trunk.

I haven't had any problem with my battery. And it got to 11 degrees the other night. How much stuff you got pulling on yours Al? Retarded stereo setup? Plus, don't our batteries get replaced if they go? I think I have the 100K battery or something. I think I will find those battery threads of the recent problems with them so I can get a heads up...I don't want that shit to happen to me!

Feel free to call me a stupid young cunt without a license who doesnt know jack about cars, but arent batteries charged by the starter? so maybe if you didnt use most of the appliances in your car (Stereo, Nav, etc.) for a while, the batery would store up power and you would be good within 1-2 weeks?

Your right on the first part ... wrong on the second ... and marginal on the third if the car appliances are stock.

Ok I should have elaborated more...
I never use my navi, only thing I use is the bluetooth... I havent modified my stereo in anyway

and I have owned the car since april

I am going to invest on an optima battery next paycheck, not worth getting stranded and being late for work

I don't care the battery has a warranty or it can be replaced etc... it is pointless to get a replacement which will be the same crap

Kinda like going to a store and exchanging a size 9 because it doesn't fit... for the same exact shoe in a size 9, knowing damn well you are a size 10
LMFAO

I don't really see where the "C" word comes into play here but just for your info: The car is started with the starter which uses battery power. Once the car is running is uses the alternator to run the car and all of its accessories as well as to maintain 12.55v in the battery. The amount of OE accessories used while the car is running has no effect on the batteries charge level, so long as the alternator is healthy and doing its job.

For the OP, I wouldn't be down on the car, Batteries just go bad sometimes and extreme temps will expose a weak battery. I would have Acura put a warrantied one in for you and go on about your business.

Car actually did you a favor....j/p

sorry to hear that you got stranded..it was brick last night!

Glad she started for you when you got back tho...look into a yellow top B. After that, all you'll have to worry about is gettin that little weezy out the deck and replacing it with Dillagence or Big Doe Rehab...

**Edit** Damn 1 Love, you beat me to the punchline...

Make Acura replace your battery, then change it out for the one you really want to use...then you can keep their brand new battery as a spare. Just keep it in the garage with a battery maintainer (provides a little charge to keep it usable)
