'06 TL Key Fob partially working

Recently my 06 TL key fob stopped working correctly. It still locks and unlocks the doors but the second button push no longer generates a beep. The other odd behavior is that the second button push no longer turns out the lights. The beeper seems to have gotten quieter over the last few months then it stopped working completely. Maybe their behavior is related, no beep, no lights out. Anyone ever seen this happen? Bad relay maybe somewhere?

As far as the beep, it could be either the actual "beeper" or the fob itself needs to get re-programmed for it to "beep" which at the moment i can't remember if it's holding down the lock & unlock button until a little red light flashes on the fob or if you have to do it from the Driver Settings inside the vehicle..damn you Mondays.

Also, are you walking away from the vehicle as you are trying to shut the lights off? Maybe a dying remote battery?

I tried some of that, double clicking close to the car, changed the fob battery, checked the programming from the dash. Didn't make any difference. Right now the beeps gone, the headlights won't go off on click #2 and parking lights don't blink when pushing button. Everything else seems to be working such as click twice and windows open. I appreciate your insight. Just hate to take it to the dealer.

Well, the only other thing i can think of is a problem with the MICU which is the brains of the operations within the car. Sometimes a simple reset helps, which is basically disconnecting the battery for an hour at least. You can search around for the problems with this particular unit, but a lot of different members have had different symptoms with it.

I solved my problem. All along I assumed all the doors were locked. It turns out one of the rear doors wasn't locking or unlocking. When I locked it manually, the key fob returned to normal. I guess it was trying to tell me something wasn't locked. Now it looks more like a lock actuator. Thanks again for you help.

Aha!
Good find. You had said all the doors were locking so the actuator didn't come to mind.lol

Good update.
