06 died, ECU swap to 07/8, Both AT

HI AZ,
Long time 3g TL owner and member, I appreciate all the info and fixes the site has provided and hoping for some direct advice here.
Acura tells me my ECU is dead and needs a new one after I had tried the neutral position reset some honda/acura owners have posted online about. Car wont recognize any of my keys so wont start and TPMS info was lost. Was working fine earlier as always, just had the VSA/TSC light on for awhile now.
So I have already grabbed a cheap junkyard A/T 07/8 TL ECU before Acura confirmed they will program a used one for me.

If Acura will re-program a used/ebay ECU for me,
Will this ECU (37820-RDA-A84) work in the 06 as straight swap option and use the old keys? separate key & fob, 07 went to combo key/fob

Should I just order the direct A72/73 replacement unit for the 06 AT?

Anyone know a good Acura/Honda shop in the Waterloo area?

Thanks, from Ontario, Canada.

IMHO & logically, if I was experiencing the same predicament, I would make every effort to stick with the ECU part number specific to your 06 AT model year to avoid any further complications.
You can find A72/73 ECU's for less than $50 before shipping on the interwebs.

I removed the A73 from my car to verify the PN so a local parts dealer can order one, they found one but not sure if its A72 or 73 yet.

Im pretty sure A72 will work in place of the A73 just fine?

I think the TPMS "info" is on a separate unit. And the ECM talks to it through the FCAN. And interestingly, the VSA is also on the FCAN.
I know this because when I installed the 07/08 OEM TPMS system on my 05, I connected it to the FCAN. And I got the HI and Low Reversed! And it caused the VSA light to turn on because of an error.
The FCAN is also how the Speedometer see's the FCAN. Because the Speedo is connected to the FCAN. It is 1 bus. In fact, my TPMS works Autonomously without the ECM even knowing about it. because my 05 was not programmed with the TPMS. Now, if you have a 07/08 that is Programmed to talk to "a" TPMS unit, it may find an error if it does not see the TPMS unit which is located behind the rear seat.
I just thought it was intersting you have a TPMS error and a VSA error.. Thats all part of the FCAN bus

by the way, isnt there a way tp program a new key to your ECM, MANUALLY? Like without using a machine? I know Lexus has a way to do it manually.. l Like, "Turn the key on and off 3 times, and flip the door locks a few times... then open and close the door a few times.. and Wa la.. its ready to receive the new key fob.. Something like that
