Has anyone seen this behavior?

When pulling into parking spaces or at slow speeds the steering is really tight. At driving speeds it seems normal. I noticed when trying to park it is like I have manual steering rather than power steering.

I am going to take it in for service, but wanted to know if anyone ever hit this issue?

How is the fluid level for the power steering

Are the tire pressures correct?

Anything else the shop will have to find- just make sure
its documented on the repair order AND write a note for the mechanic
describing the prob and when/ where it occurs, cold, warm, after freeway drive etc.
The more info you can put direct in the techs head is going to help

mine was doing this also....the dealership replaced the entire rack & pinion for me....seems fine now!

They are replacing the "rack" too. I don't know much about this part of the car, but they called and said they are replacing the rack. It has been there since Thursday.. 26,000 miles..

yeah, just something that was binding up inside the rack & pinion causing the steering to get extremely tight at low speeds......


Good to hear they are covering it though!
