'05 TL Passenger Seatbelt Chime
I have an 05 TL and the passenger seart use to chime when the person didnt snap their seatbelt. It stopped chiming about 2-3 months ago. The dealer is saying the car never had a passenger chime. Whats up with that? Im not crazy and I KNOW the passengerside use to chime and wouldnt stop until they fastened their seatbelt...
Any ideas?

I believe there is a sensor in the passenger seat that decides / determines there is a passenger there. There may be a problem if it's not registering / recognizing the passenger. Now with that being said I had a rental car on a business trip and the passenger seat would only occassionally recognize my coworker. She's 5' 7" and only 115 lbs. It kept on disabling the passenger side airbag....................

I'm sure there's an 85 step process to make it not do that anymore. I kind of like it because with my last vehicle, I got out of the habit of wearing a seat belt. This car pretty much demands it with the incessant chiming.. it's a good thing.

Hmmm - maybe I was wrong, although I'm finding it awfully hard to believe. I tested this in our 07 MDX and 08 TLS and they both have it.
My parents bought Chrysler products in the 70's and I specifically remember they all had the passenger seatbelt chime, because it wasn't an itermittent reminder. If you were sitting in the front seat and the seatbelt wasn't buckled - there was an illuminated light on the dashboard plus a constant incessant buzzer.
So if Chrysler was doing this 30+ years ago............
Any other 04-06 owners out there want to test this for us???

Maybe yours isn't working either?

Why would an 04 Chime and not an 05, That doesnt make sense, So what you are saying is that my 2004 TL should have a passenger seatbelt chime? Even though in the 5 years that I have owned it, i have never once heard it.

I forgot I have a .PDF version of the 04 Service Manual and skimming through there is no mention of a passenger's side seatbelt chime. There is a schematic of the ignition and dashboard lights / signals and there is a circuit for the driver's seat chime, but no mention of one for the passenger.
I'm just having a hard time believing something so simple and inexpensive was left out of a $30K+ luxury automobile.
I guess I was wrong
