Angry 04 TL Dead Battery

Any 04 TL owners experiencing premature dead batteries? My last battery only lasted 9 months. I was told something is drawing power from the battery while the car is off. There is a bulletin (05-029) which addresses a power draw in the 05, but my dealer says it does not apply to the 04.

Any help out there?

I have an 05 and replaced my battery a few months back. I didn't even think about the prorated warranty as I find that most car makers use cheap batteries.

Yours may still be under warranty if you care but like I said, I think it's prorated and the replacement is overpriced imho. How hard is it to go spend ~$100 and get a decent replacement with a better warranty? A decent shop will test your electrical system when checking the battery. Is the car still under warranty?

Lots of shops also react better when you give them the symtoms and they come up wth the cure.

Do a search for temperature guages...there's a problem with the outside temp guage reading dashes..if that's the case, it draws power from the battery even when the car is turned off.

do this, turn off the car, open the hood and lock the car. Wait 15 minutes and then test the draw on the battery. THe draw should be around 20-30 milliamps. If any higer, your suspect should be the Hands Free Link system.

I have a 2005 and I noticed my car was weak cranking like the battery wasn't fully charged. I was out of the 36k warranty and Acura agreed to replace for free because it has a 4 year warranty on the battery. Just my 2 cents.

some 07 owners have found the hands free remains active and picks up the signal from their cell phone in the house

possible relation to your prob?
has to be a way to fully turn off the hands free when parked

It is pretty darn common for OEM batteries to die in about 3 years and since they are pro-rated, there is absolutely no reason to make a special trip into the dealer. I had Autozone test mine and verified it was worn out (after 39 months). Acura said they would prorate and I they looked up the cost based on my in service date and remaining balance. Bottom line is that it would have cost me abotu $30 more and a separate trip (and an appointment) and .... to get the Acura OEM version. Whereas the AutoZone one was in my car in about 15 minutes (including the Acura Service telephone call to check) and was cheaper for (most likely) a better battery.
