04 TL Clutch Slipping?

I feel rather foolish. I have a 6SPD 04 TL with 80K miles. I have noticed that pretty much whatever gear I am in, if I hit the gas, the tach instantly revs up, say 1-2K, and then drops back down after 1-3 seconds as the car accelerates. I feel foolish because I simply do not know if this is a new issue, or if this goes back to day one, and is within normal parameters. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

From your description, it sounds like the clutch is slipping.
It could be worn out, or have a problem with the hydrolics.
